TRILLER FIGHT CLUB PRESENTS 'LINEAGE OF GREATNESS II'

Triller Fight Club and Ares Entertainment have announced plans for "Lineage of Greatness II," an outstanding evening of professional boxing on Saturday, October 22 at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, KS and broadcast live globally on FITE.

Featured on the card in separate fights will be the sons of four true boxing legends; undefeated heavyweight contender Kenzie "TCB" Morrison, (20-0, 18 KOs), junior lightweight contender Jose Luis Castillo Jr, (24-3, 18 KOs), welterweight prospect Roberto Duran Jr. (9-2, 7 KOs) and the pro debut of middleweight Steve Cunningham Jr.

Special guest commentators on the broadcast will be "The Voice of Combat Sports," Sean Wheelock and Amir Tyson, the son of one of the greatest heavyweight champions of all time.

"The strategic partnership with Ares Entertainment and the principals, Joe Kelly and Michael Abul, presents tremendous opportunities domestically and abroad – developing future stars of boxing, legendary match-ups and blockbuster PPV fights," David Tetreault, President of Triller Fight Club, said. "The Lineage of Greatness II solidifies a new genre of boxing that brings the sons of world champions to the center stage, giving fans amazing bouts coupled with significant nostalgia."

Advance tickets for "Lineage of Greatness II" start at $35 and are now on sale through EventBrite. Memorial Hall is located at 600 North Seventh Street, Kansas City, KS 66101. Doors will open on the night of the event at 7:00 p.m.

Son of the former heavyweight world champion Tommy Morrison, Kenzie Morrison, holder of the WBC-USNBC heavyweight title, has carved an exceptionally successful career of his own. Known for his tremendous knockout power, Morrison has stunned boxing crowds with seven consecutive stoppages, six in the first round. Most recently, Morrison dominated and stopped the now infamous Hasim Rahman Jr. in the fifth round on April 29, 2022, in Las Vegas, NV.

Son of Mexican boxing icon Jose Luis Castillo, the hard-punching Luis Castillo Jr. has displayed his father's heavy hands and warrior spirit since turning professional in 2013. The former professional soccer player with Buhos Unision F.C. in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico has knocked out his last eight opponents. He will be making his United States debut at "Lineage of Greatness II."

Son of legendary hall of famer Roberto "Manos de Piedra" Duran, Roberto Duran Jr., fighting out of Miami, FL, has carried his father's skills and power into the professional ranks. With four big wins in 2021, three by knockout, Duran Jr. will look to bounce back into the win column following a hotly contested decision loss to Arturo Moreno on April 29, 2022.

After an outstanding amateur run, Steve Cunningham Jr., son of former cruiserweight world champion, Steve "USS" Cunningham, will make his highly-anticipated professional debut in a bout scheduled for four rounds.

Additional bouts and details on "Lineage of Greatness II" will be announced shortly.

Saginaw boxer Robert Simms ready for ‘Lineage of Greatness’

In 15 professional bouts, Robert Simms has never been knocked out.

And he doesn’t expect it to happen Saturday, despite getting into the ring with the son of heavyweight champion and Rocky V co-star Tommy Morrison.

Simms, a heavyweight from Saginaw, takes on undefeated heavyweight James McKenzie Morrison in the Triller Fight Club Lineage of Greatness II event at 10 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas.

“It seems like I’ve only fought against knockout artists, but I’ve never been knocked out,” Simms said. “I’m more of a defensive boxer, a pure boxer. He packs some power in his punch, but he’s not a great boxer. If he doesn’t knock me out, I don’t think he can win this fight.”

Simms, 38, is 11-3-1 since turning pro in 2015. Morrison is 20-0-2, with 18 knockouts.

“I turned pro late, so I didn’t get the opportunities like other pros get,” Simms said. “I didn’t get the easy fights right off the bat. It’s been a different type of career. I started out fighting the best boxers right from the start.”

Simms, a three-time Golden Gloves champion, has never been knocked out. But his last bout against Moses Johnson was stopped with the fighters earning a technical draw March 5 at the Ford Center in Dearborn. Johnson punched Simms in the back of the head, knocking him down. Simms was unable to return to the fight.

“I haven’t taken a lot of punishment, but that’s the first time I can remember feeling like that,” Simms said. “I’ve gotten cut with an elbow, but he got me perfect in the back of the head. It was ruled a technical draw because they said the punch wasn’t intentional, but I’m not sure.

“When he hit me, I knew what happened. Everything went numb for a second. The next thing you know, I’m down and trying to figure out what happened.”

The 5-foot-11 Simms will give up some height to the 6-3 Morrison. Simms expects to weigh in at 235 pounds.

“I’m used to fighting taller guys, like 6-7, so this feels better,” Simms said. “The pandemic really messed up a lot of things for me. I was fighting at cruiserweight (200 pounds), getting ready to fight for a world title. I was going over to South Africa to fight. The pandemic took me out of boxing for a whole year.

“Then I had two injuries that took me out of training for a year after the pandemic. I broke my leg when I was almost back to my weight, then I tore a meniscus.”

The Morrison-Simms fight is one of four on the card that promotes the sons of famous boxers. Also fighting Saturday are Jose Luis Castillo Jr., Roberto Duran Jr. and Steve Cunningham Jr. The fight is available at fite.tv.

Simms, who is ranked 37th in the United States, believes a win Saturday could push him into the Top 15 in the World Boxing Council rankings.

“My contract is for another year and it has me boxing three times a year, so I’ve probably got six more fights in me,” Simms said. “This fight is for a couple belts, the WBC and the USNBC (United States National Boxing Championship) belts. If you get that, you get into the Top 15. That’s the goal.

“I started boxing pretty late in life, but I’ve wound up making a really good career out of it.”

Robert Simms Stuns Kenzie Morrison With Unanimous Decision in Kansas

In the main event of Triller's "Sons of Legends" card, heavyweight Robert Simms (12-3-1, 3 KOs), 38-years-old, pulled off an upset when he outboxed Kenzie Morrison (20-1-2, 18 KOs), son of former heavyweight champion Tommy “The Duke” Morrison, to secure an eight round unanimous decision.

Simms was able to take Morrison's best shots and boxed behind a good jab to keep the big puncher at bay and frustrated. Morrison was unable to make the right adjustments to deal with the tricky style of Simms.

All three judges saw it 78-74. The victory gave Simms the WBC's United States title.

In his last fight, back in March, Simms went to a three round technical draw with Moses Johnson - who also saw action on Saturday with a stunner over Elvis Garcia on ShoBox.

Morrison saw action in April, when he stopped another former champion's son, Hasim Rahman Jr, in five rounds.

Also on the card, super welterweight Steve Cunningham Jr. - son of former cruiserweight champion Steve Cunningham - blew away Andre Scott in the opening moments of the first round.

Featherweight Jose Luis Castillo Jr. (25-3, 19 KOs) - son of former lightweight champion Jose Luis Castillo - crushed James Roach (6-6, 5 KOs) in the first round.

Welterweight Jake Robinson (6-2-1, 3 KOs) overcame near disaster in the final round, to win a six round unanimous decision over Roberto Duran Jr. (9-3, 7 KOs) - the son of boxing legend Roberto Duran. The scores were 59-55, 59-55, and 60-54.

Light heavyweight Yavontae Christopher (3-0, 2 KOs) continued his unbeaten run with a four round unanimous decision over previously unbeaten Gerald McClellan Jr. (2-1, 1 KO) - son of former champion Gerald McClellan. The scores were 40-36, 39-37 and 40-36.
