He’s lost 3 of his last 5..

He’s 32 years old.

He did well to get his world title only for it to be knocked out of him.

Moves up 2 weight divisions. Goes into a ‘tough-ish’ fight for a lightly regarded world title and loses that.

He’s not popular, doesn’t shift a lot of tickets.. I’m not sure many care about him. He can box yes, but I don’t see much appeal.

He went from world level back to domestic basically last night didn’t he?

What’s he do form here? Or if you’re his promoter/management.. where do you maneuver his career?

It is an interesting one. He’s good, he just needs a decent win and he’s back in there. No idea who though, depends if he wants to stay at that weight.

I hope he carries on fighting. He’s got to be realistic about how much he earns though. Would like to see him fight for the British Light Weigh Belt.

Hughes mentioned that in the post fight interview, he said in all his years fighting it’s the first time it’s ever been done to him and when Galahad done it he thought “ooo ya bugger” which made me laugh. Galahad was blatantly treading on Hughes feet from early on too, think he got a warning for that at one point plus of course his head.

I don't think he is big enough at lightweight. Also he goes into his shell a bit against a stronger fighter.

I doubt he is financially secure so he needs to earn a few quid still, even if he is an opponent.

He still has another couple of earning years left at at least domestic championship level.

His main problem is that he isn't a ticket seller and excitement wise, a bit like Junior Witter he tends to be negative when up against it.

Martinez will always get work because he is a beatable crowd pleaser who will always go out on his shield.

Most probably, reminds me of Lee Selby who also jumped straight to lightweight after years boiling down to featherweight.

It could well be that the fight was there and it offered a way forward more than him being too tight at the weight

I thought he meant bite at first but when you see where the marks were they were on the side of his body so I assume Galahad was pinching him, I can’t see how he could have bitten him there

Saw a interview where they said their were no appealing opportunities at super feather so looked at lightweight and took the the maxi fight. Hard to see where he goes as a non ticket seller and not many wud want to fight him due to his style.

Surely if he wants to continue, then there are plenty of domestic and Euro fights he can be in?
The guy is a good measuring stick for up an comers, we know pretty much where he is.
The age thing is of some concern. 32 can be ancient for the lighter weight guys who can have their form fall off a cliff into their 30's.

Kid Galahad breaks silence after Maxi Hughes defeat and discusses his next steps

Kid Galahad insists defeat to Doncaster’s Maxi Hughes will not send him into retirement as he contemplates a return to the ring this year.

The Sheffield fighter was on the wrong end of a close decision as he slipped to his second straight professional loss against Hughes last weekend, leaving his career up in the air.

Galahad and his team dispute the outcome of the bout, which saw Hughes awarded victory by majority decision.

Had Galahad not been deducted a point in the tenth round for use of the head, the verdict would have been announced as a split decision draw.

"The referee was terrible,” said Galahad, who this time last year was preparing for the first defence of his IBF featherweight world title.

Galahad was repeatedly warned by referee Marcus McDonnell for various misdemeanours, but accused his opponent of being negative.

"Maxi has never been in an exciting fight,” he said.

"I tried to make a fight out of it but it was hard style-wise. How can I throw more if he’s just so negative? You don’t throw shots for no reason.

"Every time I got him in the corner he would hit and hold and the referee would split us up.

"The ref warned him how many times about holding.”

Galahad’s decorated career has seen him win titles at British, Commonwealth, European and world level, but his stock has fallen after two defeats in the last 12 months.

Where does the 32-year-old go from here?

"We’re going to see, I feel like I won that fight,” he said.

"I know Maxi knows I won that fight. I might try and get back out one more time this year.”

Is retirement a possibility, as was suggested by his trainer Dominic Ingle before the fight?

"No. I might not have got the decision but I definitely won.

"Did I look like I shouldn’t have been in the ring with him, or I was done? Not at all.”

Galahad previously lost to Hughes’s stablemate Josh Warrington, whose trainer Sean O’Hagan was again in the opposite corner on Saturday, on a split decision.
