Tyson Fury accepts December 3 fight as back-up plan to Anthony Joshua showdown made[/b]

Tyson Fury has told Mahmoud Charr he will fight him on December 3 if Anthony Joshua doesn't sign and return his contract by Tuesday this week. 'The Gypsy King' has been negotiating a blockbuster bout with his British rival, having offered 'AJ' a 60-40 split to take him on at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.

Joshua has explained that the contract is with his lawyers and won't be imminently returned, although has continuously voiced his intentions to sign it. But WBC champion Fury has now seemingly lost patience with the lack of confirmation, setting a deadline of Monday before he abandons all plans for the fight.

He'd previously been called out social media by German heavyweight Charr, a former WBA champion who has a career record of 33-4, and once unsuccessfully challenged Vitali Klitschko for the WBO world title. And just hours before Joshua's apparent deadline expires, Fury has lined up a back-up fight with the 37-year-old.

In quotes posted on Twitter by TalkSPORT boxing editor Michael Benson, the Morecambe man told Charr: "If he don't sign today, you are in big G. And you can show them how a real man throws down."

I really hope this doesn't happen.

I hope WBC don't magically insert Charr into the top 15 so he's accepted as a mandatory.

I really don't see how this bout takes place at Principality - the venue which is already booked.

So let's say for instance Joshua is dithering, is it acceptable for Fury to fight the likes of Charr or Chisora?

Is it fck

I’d rather he not fight.

Where did he even find Charr from in the first place?

Charr is a legend. 10 years since Klitschko, still a contender.

I'm interested in what the WBC do. Fury's their champion. They like him. I reckon it's either somehow rubber stamp Charr, or else despite it not being a WBC title fight, they'll create a "special" belt to commemorate the event and have their official stamp put on the fight.

Imagine the stick Joshua would get if this fight was even being mentioned for him, even after his consecutive losses. No way Fury sells out anywhere big Vs Charr right now, fans would not have it.

If he can't face Usyk or AJ, Fury can still pick from about 5 legitimately credible opponents that he hasn't faced before, about 10 more who would not be lambs to the slaughter but not great challenges, then about 30 more who would all still be better opponents than Charr.

Polls like this always need a "don't care" option.

Huge fan of Tyson tbh but every since April he’s done my nut right in. If he fights Charr then I’ll be hoping Charr can somehow chin him.

Get in the bin.

In fairness though, while all the other contenders were whistling past the graveyard, Charr had the minerals to take on Lovejoy. I'll always respect him for that.

This would be even more pathetic than Bowe-Dokes.

Charr’s come out and said he’s signed a deal with Frank to fight either Fury, Dubois or Joyce.

It’s a poor fight for all 3 of them.

It's barely acceptable for Dubois but I'd rather see Dubois face him than the other two (it also means Dubois is slowly taking out those involved in the WBA Regular mess). Also, no way has Charr signed that deal not knowing who he's going to face as they will all have different dates, different tests and different purses.

I wouldn't mind him fighting Dubois..

A decent and fitting 'regular' title defence.

Yeah let Dubois have it. It’s not great, but about par for the course.

Blimey, surely the dough he would get would be on a massively sliding scale.

Yeah - I’d assume so. Again, who knows if it’s actually true. Tyson announced last night that he’s fighting Charr next so who knows what’s happening.

Where does Charr rank in terms of Fury's opponents since Cunningham in 2013?
Cunningham, Abell, Chisora, Hammer, Klitschko, Seferi, Pianeta, Wilder, Schwarz, Wallin and Whyte. You'd have to think he's in the bottom three out of 11 after Seferi and Pianeta. An argument could be made for no more than 5th worst even if you're being favourable.

I'd probably say in order of worse first.
Seferi
Abel
Schwarz
Pianeta / Charr (I see these as the same level).
Hammer
Wallin
Cunnugham
Chisora
Whyte / Wilder
Klitchscko.

Wilder for me has to be above Whyte come on.
Whyte is nearer Chisora
