Former David Haye opponent, Nikolai Valuev, who retired from boxing in 2010 because of joints and bones issues, has been called up to fight in Putins army, and will enlist next week.

He'd be kinda hard to miss.

The article I read Valuev seemed happy to be conscripted up - from what I understand he is a politician now - so likely it's a PR drive to support the conscription.

I work for a global company, and one of my delightful jobs over the last few months has been running regular checks to ensure we’re not working with any sanctioned Russian individuals or companies. Noticed whilst reading through one of the first releases that Dmitri Pirog was on there. Apparently he’s some kind of politician theee now.

Like it or not he remains a politician for Putins party therefore he is part of the system. One of the cronies. Feet under the table. Sadly most Russian athletes are the same . Got their nose in the trough after retiring.

Eubank would be saner, Froch less vain and Khan cleverer than the current Tory cabinet !
Admittedly we don't have any Klitschko brothers that stand out, but the greatest world leader right now was a stand up comedian, so...,
I'll vote Carl Frampton ! Seems intelligent, analytical and human to me...

Valuev always came across as someone whos vulnerable and can be easily manipulated and exploited, wasn't he discovered when living up some Russian mountains and basically steered towards the heavyweight title??
