Johnson would have given him a lot of trouble; but more often than not Louis would win.

Johnson was very good at using his hands to picking off his opponents punches. He was one of the few heavyweights who had as much boxing skill as Louis and would have had the advantage in speed. Louis would have the power advantage and was a very accurate puncher, who would get to Johnson more often than almost anyone else, though not consistently.
