saw this really bizarre (1980)movie on TV the other week.
and for just one split second when I saw this. and thought to myself ,
Did I just see Pipino Cuevas from behind the door at 52:15 of this clip ?
( if it is, he is not credited for it at IMDB, so was just wondering what y'all may have thought

could be but
looks to me like it may be Pipino Cuevas
who was the welterweight champion then.
they probably would have wanted someone famous for the gag as an 'in-joke".

Definitely more Muniz than Cuevas. I'll ask Mando next time I talk to him.

another mystery is why Sugar Ray Leonard does not mention Armando Muniz
in his 2011 autobiography.
even though Muniz came close to defeating welterweight champion Jose Napoles
for the title and also fought Carlos Palimino in 2 hard fights too.
that had to have been a stepping stone fight for Leonard,
so why didnt he aknowglede it ?

Armando Muniz is in this episode of Taxi, so he had to have had a SAG card anyway.
( he can bee seen beginning at 7:00 of this clip )

It fits the mold for both. But based on what Mando wore on the SRL fight clip, Id say its Mando.

was watching another movie the other night.
this one was called BUSTING (1974) With Elliot Gould and Robert Blake,
they go to the Main Street Gym in the skid row section of LA, and towards the end for the climax the go to a sporting arena in Los Angeles and there is boxing going on in the background.
was that Armando Muniz fighting tin the ring too ?
