Posted: 13 Oct 2022, 23:38
You read it correctly, yes, Elkins (where?) West Virginia. VALID BOXING LLC will be hositng 12 professional boxing bouts at the Phil Gainer Center on Friday, November 4th in Elkins.
Featured boxers will include NYC area boxers Iman Lee (lightweight, 3-0) as well as John Leonardo (8-1-1), Nigerian born lightheavy Afunwa King (4-1) who has made a career of fighitng undefeated fighters is scheduled. Other boxers include New Rochelle's undefeated welter Bryce Davis, Jetter Burgos (1-1) who will face 1-0 DeAndre Menser, Jonathan "The Sniper" Sledge residing in Gerogia, as well as the pro debut of amateur standout Giovanni Figueroa at 118 pounds.
Tough as nails local West Virginia moutainman, Matt "The Juggernaut" Garretson with all his 295 pounds of bearded, tattooed West Virginia surly attitude will be a featured attraction. In a case of "someone's 0 must go" we have all heavyweights ; Milton Martin (0-2), William Holtzclaw (0-1), and Freeman Joshua (0-1) with a heavy to be named later. These bouts promise to be exciting, evenly matched and we get to see who wants it more as I am sure these men will be swinging for the fences, or like an older matchmaker used to say "windmilling like an octopus wearing tennis shoes".
Local beloved micro-brew "Big Timber" will be on tap as well as a few of the more establsihed breweries. The NY-centric guys at Valid Boxing are even bringing in pizza from the Bronx all the way out to West Virginia after a Pizza scouting mission in Elkins earlier in the month resulted in a record number of pit stops on the way back to New York from West Virginia, and pink stains from all the Pepto Bismal on the car seats....
This promises to be highly entertaining. We have great beer, NY pizza, all in a nice little town. A percentage of the profits will be donated to NYC's Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. The WVU Boxing Team is invited and expected to attend.
Tickets are more than reasonably priced, at just $40 ringside, $20 Gold and $15 General Admission.
If you are in West Virginia or the vicinity, or want to take a road trip, more info can be found at elkinsfightnight.eventbrite.com !
