How does one become a referee or judge?

Punchy1, thank you for your kind comments—all free. I will have the Spanish version completed by the end of this month. I hope to get some help in the future with other languages. It is a living document, so as people give me good advice and or point some things out, I will use it for future updates.

Homicide Henry, that is a good question. There is no definitive path to becoming a professional licensed referee or judge.
If you like judging, here's what I would do. I would attend any type of seminar you can go to. There are some judge videos on youtube, although some of them are confusing. Watch those. Google judges, etc., and read up on some things. Then I would contact your local amateur boxing association and ask them if you can visit one of their next shows. Then after a while, I would contact your local commission and see if you can visit one of their shows and trail the fights. Trailing as you may know is judging the fights as they happen unofficially.

But whatever you do if you embark on this venture, DO NOT let anyone hold you back. Be respectful and demand the same from others. Boxing ALWAYS needs good people.
