Steve Bunce - Uks worst journalist

In the past I have championed Steve Bunce, even arguing on his behalf when I have been in the minority.

I am now calling on the BBC and independent to sack him due to him being so completely dismissive of the fans to the point he is insulting the very fans he needs to support his heavily biased articles etc etc

Bunce is being insulting and disrespectful to those fans who dare to disagree ref #FuryChisora3

Bunce is yet another example of a brown nosing journalist who slags off social media yet begs for their support to keep his existence in boxing going.

When he is a pundit on BT Sport his ranting, one sided comments are nauseating.

I wouldn’t really call Bunce a serious boxing journalist or pundit anymore, hasn’t been one for years now. Does enough to keep himself on tv and/or a seat at ringside, doesn’t rock the boat, pretty much cemented himself as a permanent fixture of British boxing. Can’t really blame him tbh, great position to be in.

Hard to disagree with your assessment, although wouldn't want anyone to get sacked. I went right off him when he said that Joe Frazier "was brown bread". A total lack of class.

Do you not find his comments about social media disgusting especially when he is so heavily reliant on those social media fans to keep his podcasts, BBC radio 5 programmes alive.

Just because fans disagree with him he then becomes disrespectful

Hi mate,

I honestly cannot believe he is so disrespectful and dismissive of the very fans that keep him in a job.

His loud mouth rants are nauseating.

He's obviously shit, but if he is insulting to and dismissive of the public, then that's one of the few things he is right about so I'm surprised that's what pushed you the other way.

Bunce is like any journo/pundit, depends what mood i’m in, he can be a right clown or he can be funny, more often a clown though

I enjoyed his book on the history of British boxing. But don't pay much attention to him otherwise

Robert Smith says the same sort of stuff, fans watching at home who disagree with the judges should be immediately dismissed and don’t know what they’re talking about. Bunce is just part of the old boys club now, very exclusive membership and don’t like being questioned.

He should do a book on Black History Month

Steve Bunce is just a talking yes man to me now. Pretty much a pointless irrelevance.

Talks shite. Always will from now on.

Shame… as on allegedly with Lillis he was decent.

Buncie
Gareth A
Spud

Are all an irrelevance

I’ll watch, take my own council and, make my own conclusions,

The 3 above are an irrelevance

I'm guessing Buncey is being pro-Fury v Chisora 3 :maybe:

If he is, then should be seriously questioning himself. Fury v Chisora 3 is one of the sickest jokes boxing has come up with 🤮

Yes and David Haye would agree that Steve Bunce is the most qualified person to write such a history lol

He’s not great & he’s definitely got worse but at the side of Gareth A Davies & Adam Catterall he sounds incredible

he's the equivalent of a WWF ringside commentator. fully in on the job. I don't bother listening to the BBC boxing stuff now, which is a shame because he had some interesting people on it.

I rate Catterall. The GAD is just a caricature of himself.

Bunce was decent a good few years ago and brought, what seemed like then, a real fan like enthusiasm and honesty to his writing.
It upset some of the bigger movers in British boxing and we had the whole #save_buncey thing.

Us online anoraks, as Bunce later referred to us, literally saved his career. But Bunce then played it a different way and realised the Colin Hart way was safer for his career.

There is no doubt Bunce is the contemporary Colin Hart. Arrogant, out of touch, and basically useless in the role he has. But I guess he probably appeals to the wider 'casual' boxing fan who will have the same clueless views and opinions on the current boxing scene.

Bunce is a useless, excitable, eunuch sounding company man. I don't care if he gets the sack but fornicate him generally.

He's so far from the worst - this thread is silly.

He's got genuine passion and enthusiasm, trouble is Boxing journos become like journeyman fighters - they "learn the business" and spout the company line like learning to take a dodgy points loss without trying to hard and come back and get paid next week.
As BB says, "who can blame him ?" He's got a great job on decent money and would you or I suddenly rock the boat with fierce, independent journalism and "telling it like it really is"...?
I suspect not.

Some are good, I think he focuses on the darker side of boxing a bit too much sometimes. Also he's always got to big himself up in the stories , and then he drops hints that he has stories from the story but cannot say it , as if he's a holder of all these secrets.

Thomas Hauser is leagues above Bunce in style of writing and Hauser has been with top top level boxers and never tries to make himself a focal point in the story.
