Seems to be having a fair crack at it and has a sensible vision of what to do with lower level guys (joe Hayden’s plan of 10x 4rounders first year then move onto 6 rounders seems sensible). A lot of his team arnt flashy punchers and would have zero chance being an A side pro boxer without big Dave’s backing and will at least get the chance to see how far they can go.

Question is how far do you think Dave will go as a trainer and manager? will he move up and acquire some touted prospects? or will he stick to pulling guys out of obscurity and giving them a chance?

Personally like what he is doing now, it’s kinda feel good stuff. But don’t know how sustainable it is long term.

i think dave allen is a smart geezer, who on camera acts the joker, but when you listen to him he knows the game knows what a fight is worth , i think he will do well wolf in sheep clothing

Dave has amateurs as well. They train in a very pro style, good body punchers.

Dave is a top bloke who will look after his fighters.

I look forward for to seeing him progress as a trainer/manager.

Yea, i like that he has a mature preparing to be pros. Where losses don’t count. If you don’t wanna go to the olympics why try box armature style, fight in the armatures pro style and get experience where losses don’t counts

I would yea. (Well, I’d rather him not get punched for a living but if I were picking a trainer/manager Dave would be up there )

Danny murrel? He moved to a more experienced trainer but hasn’t fought since (that’s my understanding). But he never lost under name, and got a name out of it. And probably learnt a bit. So I wouldn’t take that as a failure.

Seems like he is picking people he likes to train rather than trying to milk every penny. (This can change over time but for now seems nice)

Is he still boxing himself? Not heard much from him since earlier this year as an active fighter. Still young enough to have some pay days.

I think the concern I'd have if I had a family member training with him, would be the time he can afford to commit to the fighter. Grassroots training (which it would be for a youngster) isn't well paid and my feeling is that Allen (and I do not blame him one bit) would need to help finance himself with a bit of punditary, youtube appearances, fighting himself. Would he have the time to dedicate to a fighter for peanuts.

He has a few pros, men and women including Joe Hayden and Stevi Levy plus amateurs. He will box again.

Couldn't agree more, love listening to him talk boxing, he's as honest as they come

I watched his interview with Seconds Out I think it was and he says the plan is to fight again but if he can't fit it around the people he's training then he won't bother

I really like Dave Alken … he has had a right battle personally, I would love it if he succeeded as a trainer.

However I dont see where he goes as a fighter

Dave Allen is an interesting character and has obvious flaws which I guess is part of the appeal .
He should not try making a comeback given how his last few fights were especially the pasting by the scouser .
Good luck to him as a manager / trainer .

dave's brain does not need a fight with big mak, that could get nasty. mak is limited but an awful opponent for a punch bag style fighter who takes 3 to give 1

Probably exactly what he would be good as. (At least referring to the front half of his career and hard sparring 1000s of rounds vs elites). 2nd part of his career is pretty decent, headlining the 02, ect. I hope there’s a 3rd part where he gets back in the wins but never attempts to go past British level.

Id like to see Dave gets in shape and gets to fight winner of Gorman/wardly for the British title.
