What sparring rumours have you been privvy too?
I’ll start in the build up to the ill fated Haye v Fury fight Haye missed loads to the point Adam Booth had Haye sparring with a week to go, resulting in him getting cut by Filip Hrgovic.
The clip of Haye sparring Deontay Wilder was cleverly edited.
Come on guys you must have some gems

I didn't think it was the done thing to share sparring stories? That is what I have always believed?

Thanks for that, what a wonderful contribution to the thread I am overwhelmed.

If I am wrong tell me? Is it not one of the unwritten rule?

Like I said thank you for your wonderful contribution.
The threadl was designed to give those an insight
to things that they may or may not ever get to hear about.
If people kept to the “done thing” as you pur life w
would get rather dull around here.
Thank you for putting me on the correct path.

I find sparring rumours are pretty pointless and so what. Maybe the fighter was tired that day, trying a new style etc
All that matters is what happens when it comes to fight night.

Spadafora against Mayweather is the famous one but sparring is sparring, some guys are terrible sparrers but deliver on the night, others go hammer and tong in sparring but can't put it to practice on the night, also when it comes to well known pro stories you can never tell, one guy might be a week from fight night whereas the other dude might be just starting camp and miles off it

I recently watched it for the first time. A bit sickening on wilders part hitting him when he was down but the nutcase got up a few times to try atleast. Took harder shots than helenius who folded from nothing for his paychech

Exactly and to be fair it means nothing Iv seen so many time people who have dominated a spar and think it means a great deal get walloped in a real fight with no head guard and small gloves.

spenny fearon started rumours that groves ko'd ggg in sparring, and ppl kinda got on board talking about how they can see it would be true, but then groves admitted that ggg banged him up first session, then second session broke his rib or something like that , and that he had to leave camp after 2 sessions because of the injury
fearon had made it seem like he was in camp with them and watched it himself, but then later said that he had simply heard the rumour from a friend of a friend . shows how bs can spread

thing is that there is an incentive too in pro boxing to lie about sparring, it can get fighters all sorts of extra attention and interviews if they or their team spread nonsense

Lots of gym fighters about, look great in sparring but can’t replicate it in a real fight. Then guys who look awful in training, Muhammad Ali was one, but it’s a different ball game fight night.

True, and it can work the other way as well.
It can be hard for big punchers or go forward fighters to spar effectively when working on different moves.
