Boxing legend Jeff Fenech has been awarded a fourth world title 31 years after enduring the worst robbery in Australian boxing history - but not all fight fans are happy about it.

Three-time world champion Fenech was retroactively awarded a fourth title on Tuesday after the World Boxing Council deemed that he won his controversial bout against Azumah Nelson in 1991.
What does everyone think of this decision?

Should boxing history be left alone?

Personally, I would give Roy Jones the gold medal from the Olympics.

Giving him the belt is one thing.
Like an honorary belt.

They have Wlad one.

But BoxRec apparently changed the result! :oo

That's an ridiculous precedent to set. Honorary belts are fine (as long as they don't count towards an actual belt tally) and decisions being overruled by a commission following an investigation shortly after the fight would seem reasonable in extreme circumstances but simply overturning a decision just because they want to is insane.

Perhaps they should go back and reverse the discision on there last fight , Azzumah complained after , how he had been paid by Jeff to come over and have a hard spar followed by a result of a draw all pre arranged ,, Only for the Aussies to shaft him and make Jeff the winner   whats more i believed then and now what he said was true ,

Facts are , when they fought the first one Azzumah had just lost his mother in law who he was very close too ,, he was coming off a bout of illness and was not fully fit mentaly or physicly and still put up a great fight , it was'nt the great robbery people especielly Aussies say , it was like the Leonard - Hagler fight ,, pick the one you like most it was close either way

The second fight well that was Azzumah at his best and he demolished Fenech , no question demolished him

I’m sure they’ll award Catterall the WBC belt in 2052

Sad though. These orgs shoot themselves in the foot so often, that if it wasn't money for jam they would be out of buisnes.

A bit late to the discussion, admittedly. But, let's see Zarate-Fenech get overturned as well, if we're going to dive headfirst into cancel culture. I recall Fenech being rescued by a fantasy head clash. A cut under the eye.

Would make more sense to try and prevent such results in future, surely - something they don't seem remotely interested in doing.

He can get given as many titles as he likes, ultimately Nelson battered him in the rematch and it was in Australia.

Yes, they put them in a small ring in Australia & it was like man against boy, with Nelson splattering him & turning him into a sitting duck for all his future decent opponents.
