Good win, but I still think he's a bum!!!!

I must say that the radio commentators (Nelson, Witter and ??) were excelent during the whole card, probably the best I have ever heard. If the radio commentators were like this in the old days I can really see why boxing was so popular, I think it was better than if I saw it on TV.

I just can't stand Witter.........

Woods looked pretty good..... but then again Hoye didn't look that great

Found it funny when BBC tried to encourage a Calzaghe gate crash and Woods just punched the head set away and completely dismissed Calzaghe. Bit tasteless on BBCs part, the man is only champ 5 minutes after years of trying and they try and push Calzaghe into his spotlight.

Yeh I guess they wanted to get the fight hyped up on air so they have a chance of getting the fight on bbc, seeing as tho Joe is with Warren- if the fight happens it will probly be on sky

Good performance from Clinton Woods, he made Hoye look basic although Hoye has some chin on him. He took loads of hard shots flush.

Didnt think much of haye's win, kelly offered little as opposition, good finishing punch from haye but i think kelly was not the opponent people were making him out to be.

I enjoyed watching Joe C getting dissed. First by Clinton then by Bunce (who clearly didn't know he was on screen when Joe was eventually foisted on us) giving that "nah" gesture when Inverdale offered the mic to speak to him.

Secondly it was nice to hear so many having a little dig at the BBC for giving up on boxing (even Joe).

Thirdly just as he looks to be out of a job i felt Duke McKenzie was the best he's ever been and maybe was beginning to learn the job.
I like to see retired boxers get commentator jobs over broadcasters so i never begrudged him but it's been like listening to a dentist's drill many times in the past. He seemed calmer and more coherent than ever tonight. Oh well.

Got to agree that was the best I`ve seen Woods.

Lets hope he can make some money from the title.

One of the nice guys of boxing finally got his reign as a legit champ. I'm happy for him.

Great win for Clinton, he was in with a LIVE opponent tonight.

Started brilliant, that left hook in the 2nd convinced me was on a winner ( and I thought Hoye was going to knock him out tonight I admit ) Good old Jim Beam Neilly missed it of course....thought Duke was good tonight though, at least he picked up on it.

Must say though, the ref lewis would've left me fuming if I was in the Hoye camp. On his case the whole time, and looked an early stopage too - no doubt the Americans will be complaining long and loud about that - though he was without doubt on his way out.
Just thought Lewis should've let Clinton and least put the result beyond dispute. Seemed a bit too eager to jump in.

Couldn't be more pleased for Clinton Woods though. And well done for blanking Calzaghe at the end - the BBC are just clueless.

Haye looked good, can't hit much harder than that I reckon. A huge puncher with a china chin: fireworks guaranteed and I'll be cheering him on the whole way

Agree ref was on Hoye's case a bit too much but in some ways that stoppage was too late for me. Lovely work from Woods and don't really think Calzaghe deserves a shot at Woods. Love the way Bunce didn't want to talk to him-hilarious!

Don't think Haye is really china-chinned (took some good shots from Thompson) although he does need someone who will give him rounds not just a step up the rankings ladder. Kelly looked like a slightly inferior Arthur Williams.

Yeah, big props to Clinton. I didn't think he was going to do it, to be honest, I wasn't convinced he had that much left, but he looked tremendous, even though Hoye wasn't, in all fairness, as good as could have been expected. Great win.

Thought it was well out of order for the beeb to try and foist Calzaghe upon him at ringside, but it was more out of order for Joe to be on the phone in the first place. Glad to see Clinton's trainer cut it off early with his "who is it?" comment, and then just dismissing him outright. Exactly right.

As for John-Lewis, I agree that he wasn't perfect. Seemed to eager to get on at Hoye. Has he ever reffed a Skelton fight, for example? Because I can't remember him ever getting involved as much before. Stoppage could be considered premature as well, certainly from the Hoye camp. Still, that should not take away from the fact that Woods looked like finishing it anyway.

Well in Clinton, I'm chuffed for him. Forth attempt, and he came good. I know holding the IBF belt is slightly tainted by the fact that the real champion vacated, but he now stands alone as the only Brit to hold a real belt. And credit to his backers/promoters for getting him the shot as well. Great work all round.

Don't want to take too much aweay from Clinton but Hoye fought like a novice, horrible tactics.

The ref Ian John Lewis also reffed clintons first fight with Glen Johnson, and he was on clintons side then too, totally hometown reffing

The BBC would have to try and ruin the class of the evening with the Calzaghe stunt, wouldn't they though. Clinton - or one of his camp - should have given that arsehole some gutter abuse then hung up; got one up on him. By just ignoring him it still left a sour taste in my mouth.

I wonder if that knobhead would have been waiting on the headset if Hoye had banged Clinton out of there in the early rounds. Would he fornicate.

Their was NOTHING wrong with the refereeing. Hoye was hitting low, in the 1st round he even seemed to hit Clinton on the leg which ref didn't pick up. He couldn't miss his bollocks up close.

With regards to the low blows, I thought Woods was spot-on, just wanted to get on with the fight as if he didn't appreciate the distraction. That was my problem with John-Lewis; he was following the rules, sure, but the fight never looked like it needed interrupting.

Obviously, if it had gone to points, it would have been an issue. But I've seen rougher fights than that, where neither guy has even been warned.

The other point, of course, is that I was pretty much drunk whilst watching tonight, and hated to see the action stopped...So I may not be the best judge........

Good for him. Though, I do feel if he had lost he'd not get a world title shot, maybe ever. He lost three in quite close succession. (Despite the decision I regard the Woods vs Johnson 1 a loss to Woods.)

Typical BBC though, Steve Bunce comparing Clinton Woods to Frank Bruno because they both had 4 world title shots. Good analysis there chaps.

Yep, spoilt for me by BBC and JC sticking their oars in. Hated it. So are you going to be fighting Woods straight after you finish Kessler Joe, that the plan?

The way Calzaghe was saying if he fought Clinton he'd beat him. Good shots though Hoye was nearly going to knocked down if the ref didn't jump in.
