That would be a very good fight and could go either way. I'd pick Marlon by close points decision.

The Magic Man by split decision over Carlos Palomino in a classic match up.

Carlos Palomino. But, Marlon Starling was also very underrated.

I think Starling should have been inducted into the Hall of Fame by now.

I think Moochie could pull off a UD if he was on point.

I watched lots of Palomino's fights live on TV, back when I was a kid. He was pretty good, held the title for four years. Great jabber and body puncher. Impressive left hook. A very solid puncher with both hands, capable of KO'ing foes with one punch. A good technical boxer, strong, and his conditioning was as always superb.

As for Starling, I saw some of his films but not a heck of a lot. I'm not well informed about Starling.

Nonetheless, I'm confident that Carlos beats Starling. Probably by decision.

Over the years, I've never known boxing experts or fans to rate Starling as Palomino's equal. I think it's conventional wisdom in this sport that Palomino was a level or two above Starling in ability.

Big question here is, could Starling have neutralized Palomino's big left-hook to the liver? If not, then Palomino breaks Starling down over the long haul and wins on points, if not later rounds stoppage.

My only recollection of the man was his beer commercials. He was a little before my time. Starling was more of my time. My dad was a big fan of Palomino though.

Starling defeated Breland, Brown, Honeyghan, and Mayweather, but came up short against Curry and Nunn. Palomino came up short against Benetiz and Duran, but did hold the welterweight title for 4 years although I think it's safe to say it was a weaker era for that division. He did have a draw against Hedgemon Lewis prior to being champ, but a lot of people felt that Lewis won it.

I'll go a different route than everyone else and pick Starling to win a decision.
