What is David Haye like?

I haven't had the opportunity to see this guy fight and was wondering what kind of fighter he is. By the looks of his record Haye certainly seems to have a good punch! Is that the case, or has he just been feeding on easy prey?

I would say Awesome punch, questionable chin and stamina though.

Fantastic power , fantastic tecnique. Against Thompson made a couple of novice mistakes looks like he's sorted them out now.

Not as convinced, he was VERY patient in his fight prior to Thompson (vs Williams). Who knows what he will be like in a similar atmosphere when he is headlining.

im not sure his chin is questionable, his stamina in the thompson fight for one reason or another was rubbish.

He moved up in competition in 2004 and has a couple of good wins. If you don't mind, what were some of the details of the Thompson bout?

Basically haye battered him for 2 rounds, anyone else would have been kayoed but not thompson, thomspson then rallied from the 3rd and haye basically looked knackered.
MANCHESTER’S Carl Thompson retained the IBO cruiserweight title by stopping former amateur star David Haye in the fifth round at Wembley Arena last night.
It was a victory for age and experience over youth and promise, as 40-year-old Thompson hit back after Haye had dominated the opening two rounds.
The 23-year-old former world amateur championship silver medalist, who had won his first 10 professional fights in quick time, looked to be heading for another rapid victory.
The pair set a cracking pace from the first bell with Haye totally dominating the opening two sessions, as he seemingly hit Thompson at will with a succession of sharp jabs and heavy two-handed combinations.
But, during the third round, Thompson began to fight back and turn the tide, even though he was still very much on the receiving end.
Thompson continued to pursue the challenger in the fifth round and a right to the side of the head dumped Haye on the canvas.
He climbed up on unsteady legs, but ,after another big right, wobbled back into the ropes and the towel came floating in with just seven seconds of the round remaining.
"I’m showing age is no barrier,” said Thompson. “I’ve got my strength and I know what I’m in the sport for. I will fight anyone if people pay me the money.
"I was on the receiving end for most of it and I know I’m not the most talented boxer in the world, but I hung in there and will give anyone trouble.
“He had me hurt but I had enough sense to see where he was coming from.”
Haye, who is young enough to relaunch his career, said: “When I hurt him I could see in his eyes that he wasn’t going.”
Haye defended himself against criticism that he had taken the fight too soon in his fledgling career by saying: “A lot of people take fights they know they have a 100 per cent chance of winning, but I knew Carl can take punches and come back.”

I hear all the fancy machines he uses at his gym are mainly to blame for that...anyways i think perhaps some people question his chin after he was dropped and hurt by blown up Light Heavyweight journeyman Lolenga Mock. Overall i am impressed by the level of opposition he is facing thus far.

Yeeaays, one cannot blame stamina for the Mock shot.

Still, I think he's got 'it' though, and should go pretty far in an honest, non-orthadox non-WBU -fighting-credible-opponents sort of way.

if haye had good stamina, he would be a phenomenal fighter. Maybe he can still build it up, I certainly hope so. He picks his shots so well now, It's hard to imagine any cruiserweight in the world continually taking flush shots from Haye and staying in there. Thompson's heart was freakish in that fight, if Haye had paced himself he would have picked his way to a comfortable 6th or 7th round KO.

Very good technique, very good handspeed. But outside Thompson hasn't really been tested. Good young prospect, but til gets more Thompson like fights its hard to say if he's as good as he looks against journeymen. Has been knocked down before, when perhaps he shouldn't. But til he gets more regular tests, it is difficult to say if he'll live up to his potential. But the potential is there.
Quite amicable guy, who I hope can go as far as his early form suggests.
