Riddick Bowe vs. Michael Spinks

15 Rounds Heavyweight Bout

Big Daddy Bowe would overwhelm Spinks by landing long good left jabs and body shots on the inside before he puts him out with either his right hand or his left hook in 7 rounds. What do you guys think and who do you got?

No way Bowe doesn't win this. Just too big, too strong, too good for Spinks.

Spinks at best could win 3 maybe 4 rounds if everything is clicking for him, but him getting taken out seems inevitable in this fight.

Big Daddy wins, possibly inside six.

Bowe in 5. Too strong and skilled for Spinks.

Bowe lost to Tony Tubbs and apart from Holyfield, who did he beat? Spinks beat the an ATG in Larry Holmes and is criminally underrated on this forum. Bowe would have to be at his absolute best to beat the Spinks that beat Holmes...... twice,

You know, the guy Mike Tyson put away in two rounds. When Bowe fought him, the ring announcer must have read the wrong name out, because Tubbs clearly won it.

Peak Bowe would simply to be too strong.

Tubbs did almost nothing from his shell. Bowe massively outworked and outscored him. Just fail to land the biggest shots.

Just so we're clear, I'll be scoring it 100-90 in favor of Tubbs. :TU: No seriously, I'll watch it as soon as time permits.

Ok, what I can say about it: Bowe made a fight, he was pressing forward and edging with the effective work. Neither one provided significant amount of damage. Tubbs showed decent defence, but he wasn't willing to go out of his shell and take a fight. He hasn't imposed his game on Bowe and was less effective. Bowe won it 96-94-ish or 97-93-ish based on dictating the action of this lackluster affair.

At HW his management was incredibly selective about who he fought and I don't think Spinks complained too much (ie Steffan Tangstad who what?). Spinks had the potential to be the Bob Foster of his day (slaughtered LHWs and outgunned by the better HWs). Can't see him getting remotely close to beating Bowe

I watched Tubbs-Bowe again. Really hard to score because there were so many close rounds. Bowe clearly won round 1 and Tubbs round 9. I scored it 95-95 this time. No idea what fight the announcers had it. former NFL tackle Dan Dierdorf had bowe easily winning the first 6 rounds. huh?

To be fair, Bowe got better after this. The Bowe of the Holyfield fights would have beaten Spinks.
Holmes was past his prime when he fought Spinks. Still Holmes had something left. The 2nd Holmes-Spinks was actually a very good fight and underrated. spinks fought well in both fights with Holmes.

At his best, would have to with Bowe. At his best, I would go with Bowe against almost anyone. However, on a given day Spinks could have given him a lot of trouble and actually winning would have been possible.

He nearly lost him on Christmas Day, but got home yesterday and has told everything to stop fussing, so that's good sign.

He was still competitive ten years later against McCall. He had plenty left in the tank when he fought Spinks. Michael seams to only get remembered for his only loss, not the back to back wins over a Hall of Famer.

Spinks had an ungainly fighting style which worked well against Holmes. He was a great LHW but nobody ranks him highly at HW and for good reason. Besides an old Holmes and a drugged up Cooney that was also well past his best, there's nobody else of note that he fought at HW

Riddick Bowe only beat one top heavyweight, Evander Holyfield. Who else did both fight? Michael dokes? Jessie Ferguson? Herbie hide?.
