Forget the bridgerweight silliness

He was a very tough and exciting heavyweight

For being no bigger than he was he went pretty far in the heavyweight division it's just a shame that he got sucked into fads that the organizations want to pull (ie, bridgerweight).

He was probably better than his career looks so you could say he underachieved but with his size and medical history you could argue he overachieved. Atleast he's hung up his gloves when he knows he can't do it anymore rather than holding up the division or continuing to fight as low opposition as possible.

Rivas could of been a supppper fun addition to heavyweight. Even with his problems he gave us a few fun ones.

Eye kept him out of USA for years. Then he got cleared and got some big fights. Had a great fight booked. I’m glad he isn’t risking it,,just wish we had more stocky lil powerhouses in the division.

According to Rivas he is not retired. He believes he can make a full recovery.

No idea what is going on

Haven't seen any confirmation of this in local medias yet. Status is unsure per an article I read. One thing for sure, he doesn't have money aside and much to live on. Article said that him and Alvarez, 2 Colombians, were kinda screwed by local promoters and that their careers were badly managed as far as purses and all.

Dang, not even joking but I was hoping to see him and Rozicki continue to build a rivalry in the made up division.

He showed a lot in his fight with Dillian Whyte. If he had continued competing in the HW division, he would've occupied a consistent #10-12 spot. Could've given good fights with Parker, Chisora, Frank Sanchez, Bakole. Instead, he opted to become the greatest bridgerweight champion of all-time.

What happened with this? He retired then said he's not retiring but has now gone 2 and a half years without a fight at 36 years old.
