Anybody here ever seen this guy fight-or even seen a photo of him ? He was described as looking like a giant thalidomide baby and being obese as well as being one of the ten worst fighters in the country during the late 1970's.

There is a pic out there of him in the Cooney fight floating around. Whats funny is I remember one of the NY boxing writers, maybe Randy Gordon, claiming that the pic was not of Kidd and that they brought in a late sub and just billed him as Kidd anyways. His argument, besides having seen Kidd lose several times previously and being familliar with his appearance, was that the guy in the pic was in wayyyyy better shape than the real Kidd. Pretty comical.

In the Cooney photo he doesn't look that fat, certainly not 260lbs like he supposedly weighed for the Halpern fight. It's not unlikely that it wasn't him fighting Cooney

Which is all making sense now why Bos was the replacement as I just found out that he was responsible for finding Cooney's early opponents in NYC. Kidd doesn't show up. Johnny goes in to save the show. Good call, Sir.

Bos said that inclement weather prevented Kidd from showing up.
