Misfits Boxing will run a “tag team” fight on their March 4 card.





KSI’s Misfits Boxing outfit have announced a “tag team fight” for their next show on Saturday, March 4, which will apparently see budding cult legend Luis Pineda team with “Bdave” against “Stromedy” and Austin Sprinz.

How this works hasn’t been laid out, but it’s happening, and why not, I guess? I’m mentally checked out on fighting the losing battle “against” this stuff, but no, I do not consider this one of the things Misfits have done well that other promoters could learn from.

So this sucks, and it’s stupid, but it’s all stupid and a lot of it sucks. Maybe they worry that this whole thing will start burning itself out and that they need to stay a step ahead of that and try out newer, more outrageously dumb ideas.

Either way, that’s happening. There it is.

This monumental fight night will see a tag team boxing match between two brand new crossover boxing teams looking to make history. This is the inaugural MF & DAZN: X Series tag team crossover boxing match and will change the scene bringing a new level of competition to the sport.

LOS PINEDA COLADAS – Former foes become allies as Luis Pineda and B Dave form a formidable partnership. Pineda had beaten his new teammate via decision at MF & DAZN: X Series 004, but the two have formed a bond inside the squared circle where they will challenge The Fantastic 2.

THE FANTASTIC 2 – Austin Sprinz and Stromedy debut in the inaugural tag team event. The American and Canadian alliance between two notoriously funny content creators will combine their millions of followers to rally these two competitors and show what makes them so fantastic on the historic fight night.

I had 3 mates message me about this yesterday. 2 casuals that were excited about it and one died hard boxing who was rightly outraged.

It won't have long-term or influential success. Theres been similar in Eastern Europe for MMA and although it's intriguing to watch once or twice, the novelty wears off quickly. However, the YouTubers boxing fans would the kind to actually think it's incredibly cool and the next big thing...

Also, how does this get sanctioned? Or will it be an exhibition?

All of the misfits stuff is technically exhibitions. It isn’t licensed by the BBBC and they’ve got their own titles etc.

White Collar?

White Collar is a type of unlicensed boxing but the term is often misused.
‘Proper’ white collar boxing is two absolute beginners boxing one another with head guards and big gloves to raise a few quid for whatever charity and complete a personal challenge.
Lots of unlicensed boxing shows say white collar and charlatans like UWCB will allow you to have as many contests as you like, not sure how many people have died on their events now?

This has been going on for years in places like Russia where they have team fighting events. I'm also reminded of the 19th and early 20th century where they used to have battle royal boxing matches where the last man standing won.

Personally I see no problem with it. As long as everybody passes their physicals there should be no problems although I can see where a man or woman might be too tough or brave for their own good and keep on fighting longer than they should when they ought to have tagged somebody else in.

I don’t think that will be a problem

Will any license holders be banned if taking part in these events, as as happened to countless people who have worked on other unlicensed shows?

No idea. In theory yes but then the BBBoC do not allow WBF titles on their shows yet they are being boxed for in Sheffield, Perry Howe a few months ago and Billy Pickles this month, no idea how. I suppose if nobody complains then no action taken?

The sad truth is that unlicensed is usually much better than small hall pros. I’m at both in the next few weeks and I know the pro results already….

If you are saying they are matched more competitively than the typical ticket seller v journeyman small hall show, well, ok.
If you mean that the boxers are better, well, I respectfully disagree.

Do you support women’s netball, like Adam Smith, if you sub to Sky Sports? No.

I sub to DAZN and won’t watch the tag team stuff. I only care about the stuff I’m interested and whether there’s enough to justify the £100/year. The rest, whether it’s women’s champions league or tag team boxing, I’m not bothered about.
