1. on 5/14/64 his record was reported as 16-3 (missing one bout)
2. in 1960 he failed the physical for the Western Michigan Golden Gloves
3. in 1961 he did not compete in the WMGG
4. in 1963 he entered the WMGG but stayed in Los Angeles working on a music career instead
5. in loss to Elbert he twisted his knee in the first round and was severly hampered afterwards
6. in second victory over Frazier he broke his hand and was removed from the Olympic team
