So Boxxer have a press conference in Croydon this week to supposedly announce their line up to June and a new signing.
I think their new signing was going to be Buatsi but that may not be happening as Matchroom have matching rights in the deal with JB. Apparently JB has turned down £1m+ to fight Bivol.
Has anyone heard anything re: fights on Sky for the next few months?
Looks like there will be a stadium fight for CBS. Wonder which world champ that’ll be against. Assume also Riakporhe will be having a big fight.
There’s talk of a Midlands show with Tyler Denny, Frazer Clarke etc. No clue on the headliner.
I guess they’ll be announcing Eubank/Smith 2. Shame if it goes head-to-head with Taylor/Cameron.
Also meant to be announcing Claressa Shields’ next fight. Unless it’s Jonas I think the only other fighter they can have her in a big fight with over here is Marshall.

Okolie. Now Buatsi. Who’s the next that doesn’t want to be on the app?

Knowing Shalom he will have a master plan to show off Buatsi at Newcastle Arena or somewhere.

By the way Hearn was shitting on Buatsi, looks like that's heading for legals too.

There seemed ambiguity with Okolie deal as Eddie was under the impression that a keep busy fight they had for Lawrence didn’t count as one of the contracted fights whilst Okolie/258 thought otherwise.
I’d imagine a matching clause (despite how stupid I think they are as no 2 deals are the same) is just based on finances. i.E. if Boxxer are offering £1.5m for 3 fights then regardless of the opponents thought of for it that’s what Eddie’s got to match.
We’ll probably know more this week.

Not sure how much Buatsi wants it. Talks great, but turned down a big payday for Bivol, and goes missing after fights to go on holiday.

Be a huge double header involving 'Big Fraze' and Kariss whats-her-face.

He'd be a nightmare to promote. I'm no big fan of Hearn, but man it must be hard trying to promote Buatsi.

Who is Shalom’s scout? I know people on the GB squad don’t see Fraze as being a big success in the pros. I personally KNEW The Sauce won’t sell in Manchester. Harvey Lambert debuting in Bournemouth…. There’s loads more simply baffling decisions.

Okolie would struggle to sell if he was fighting at the bottom of his street. Mind-boggling decision to hire out a 21,000 seater arena in Manchester for him.

Buatsi's career has been painfully slow to develop with little in the way of challenging matchmaking. Suggests he and his team have no real confidence in him at the highest level.

In fairness Catterall was supposed to be on the Manchester show.
They were probably banking on him developing a fan base after all the controversy from the Taylor fight.

They announced him then took him after tickets went on sale. That’s poor in itself I think from Boxxer.
I hope they announce a fight for Jack today. Crazy that he hasn’t fought or got a fight lined up and it’s been 13 months since the Taylor fight.

Agreed. He certainly didn’t excel when he stepped up in level against Bolotniks and Richard, maybe he’s reached his ceiling already.

A euro title fight with Dan Azeez makes sense
Then he can o from there
It’s a bit of a crap ending to the Azeez story.

I can see them fast tracking Ben Whitaker, hence Birmingham, who won’t turn out anyway.

I think it’s too soon for Ben to come back for it injury wise. They do have some midlands fighters though so makes sense to try and get things started there.

So we’ve had a few announcements now from Boxxer…
April
Babic world title fight in Poland - I like this model in them getting shows from Europe. I’d guess they only got this because Matchroom couldn’t/wouldn’t take it as they’ve got the Cordina show on the same night.
Is there anything else I’m missing for April? Any U.K. shows? If not, I think that’s just 2 U.K. shows on regular Sky Sports in the first 4 months this year.
May
Buatsi/Stepien in Birmingham. Hopefully JB will become more active but it’s not a particularly good fight and needs a strong undercard.
CBS - strange they didn’t just announce the fight but I really hope it’s either a world title fight or Riakporhe. Really strong co-main too so will hopefully be a good show.
June
Azim show - had to tell given no opponent announced.
It’s also been over a month now since Eubank Jr supposedly utilised his rematch clause. Not sure what the delay is in getting it sorted.
Felt like Boxxer had a real opportunity this year to gain a lot of ground on Matchroom and Queensbury but it doesn’t feel like they’ve managed to do it yet.

It looks like Boxxer has put together the kind of headline fights that Matchroom previously used to fill gaps but it's missing the top level non-PPVs and PPV level fights. There also isn't much depth in the cards. It might take them a while to make their star fighter(s).

I agree, and they do seem to be building some young fighters up, so they may, like you say, have some stars.
Sky still is an excellent place to build guys up in the public eye. Eddie's lost a step lately being on DAZN
