I was thinking about this hypothetical at work today.
Would've been very interesting, especially being that they were both southpaws.
Interesting styles clash I think. We'll go with a 15 round hypothetical scenario. The Bout held In Scotland too !
I was picturing Blake basically going for broke early on, really teeing off on Watt, and I pictured the would be
Commentators getting all worked up, like they did back then.
I think that Blake would've been the aggressor and would've won the early rounds. Utilizing effective aggression.
I think that Watt would've started to gain momentum by the 7th round, with effective counter-punching, after withstanding
Blake's early offensive barrages. Blake would start to Wither enough by then, to the point where the pacing and patient Watt
Would attain that extra confidence and extra gear/extra wind/second wind fighting-attributes.
The Scotsman would also start getting into that slightly dirty street brawler mode. Boring and Bulling in with his head.
Blake, like Sean O'Grady, would wind up with a nasty cut and excessive bleeding, prompting the cut doctor to tell the
Ref to wave it off, in likely the 13th round.
The scorecards after 12 rounds would've redd, 6-5-1 Blake 5-5-2 Even 6-5-1 Watt.
Meaning, in a 12 rounder, you're looking at a Draw.
Watt would've definitely prevailed in a 15 rounder though. Blake was Quite Good for A certain span of time during his boxing carear. He was obviously never very near the overall fighting credentials of a true upper tier boxer, such as Alexis Arguello for example. Blake vs O'Grady would've been another very interesting and very thrilling boxing battle.
