BIBA or PBA

Take a look at this …
BIBA Boxing
With all whats going on in boxing.
Will some BBBofC licence holders switch allegiance and join BIBA Boxing?
Which promoter will be first to jump ship?

Nobody will switch whilst they CAN get a BBBoC license and most consider BIBA unlicensed boxing

It’s kind of ironic that FW kind of was given credit for crawling out of that mire into the mainstream, and Hearn might end up willingly heading into the cesspit!

So what makes BBBOC licensed and BIBA not licensed? They are both licencing bodies. Just because the board have been going longer does not mean they are better. Both have licence holders and both have a structure in place to regulate boxing events. I can't see the difference

BIBA have had 2 horrific shows this year & that's it , luckily the 3rd one in Blackpool featuring the return of Matthew Ellis didn't happen, they'll be finished within a year .

Explain the difference? The board of control are not fit for purpose imo ,surely BIBA can't be any worse? Are we forgetting the sub standard refereeing and the shocking judging? The list is endless. Not long ago everyone was up in arms about the Catterall/Taylor result and what looked to me like a judge playing with his phone.

Off the top of my head…
They are not recognised by the vast majority of the rest of the professional boxing world and are considered unlicensed boxing.
They don’t have any promotors with the necessary funding to put on large shows.
They have ‘licensed’ a number of people with absolutely zero medical when a gap needed filling.
They will literally sell ‘certification’ to anyone: an unlicensed boxer in the area I am in was (I assume still is) the owner of an ‘official BIBA Training Centre which was his garage with a punchbag in and some ropes nailed to the wall.
They are and have been for some time, bringing down the BBBoC with a huge court action using a lawyer that hasn’t existed for many years.

BIBA licensed boxer Eleanor Coulson is ranked #5 in the world at Middleweight by the World Boxing Association (WBA)
https://www.wbaboxing.com/wba-boxer-profile?id=17416- she won a WBA championship on a BIBA sanctioned event, as did Lee McAllister when he won the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Regional title before challenging for and winning the WBO Intercontinental Welterweight Championship in Accra, Ghana which elevated him to #13 in the World on WBO Rankings
In addition Lee, along with Nathan Decastro, Tasif Khan, Sandy Robb all were ranked by the International Boxing Federation (IBF)
Yes it would be nice to attract a big name promoter, and one day hopefully will
Every BIBA licensed boxer has to have full medicals and MRI so that is blatantly untrue
Cannot answer the next part except to say there is no such thing as an Official Training Centre - we have over 60 affiliated gyms and for reference there is no fee charged to gyms that want to affiliate with BIBA
A couple of years ago we jointly submitted a case to the Competition & Markets Authority (CMA) with the PBA. Just because the law firm you mention is no longer a limited company doesn't mean it no longer exists - for example Boxrec was a limited company, then it wasn't and now it is again

There is a real sense of Amatuer look to them. The way the BIBA seem to be the way to Promoto the shows they sanction is weird, the BBBOc dont do the same.
Also, McAllister seem's to be there big attraction. He was finished a while back, and his record is pretty poor, to use someone like that as some sort of flagship promotor really looks quite poor

Yeah but what can you say - Ill informed haters and they think that kind of record is poor

Lee McAllister’s record is Actually 49-3-0 (boxrec don’t list his BIBA fights) and his most recent championship win was the WBO Intercontinental Welterweight championship

thanks Luca, that is hell of a record, let's hope Boxrec change their policy and start listing BIBA fights. Boxing is a broad church there is room for both.

I don't know where you get your ridiculous figure of two shows a year from, Do proper research - all you need to do is go on the BIBA website
www.boxbiba.com - and go to schedule/results as all events are on there and there has never been a year when BIBA only sanctioned two events - even during lockdown we sanctioned a number of behind closed doors events that were broadcast on FITE

Sorry Luca. That comment I made was over a year ago. I would have looked on the site then to see up coming events at that time, and there would have only been 2 down at that time in April 2023.

No problem, to be honest am now encouraging promoters to plan out a yearly schedule of events rather than submit event by event, especially with the additional Pro/Am series nearly ready to launch

Hi. Which organisation does BIBA use to conduct this testing? And how does the random testing work (at every event) - is the organisation you use present at every event?
