Referee's and Judges ... How are they doing lately ?

Word on the street says there has been some off calls lately.
Early stoppages bad scorecards.
Anyone care to mention the fights ?

Coffe was stopped early Vs wardly. But pretty standard for uk A-side to win like that.

Olivia - Núñez scores all to wide, the 100-90 was way out of wack.

That 118 card in the MJ vs Taples fight was pretty gross.
The stoppage in the mattice vs cessena fight was very very bad.
Theres always tough choices, but the bad thing is that 90% of the time it goes A-side way...

Keep em coming.
They'll all get reviewed fairly.

I already came up with this idea in a better form on the13thround forum years ago. It's still an ongoing thread.
I called it "Watching the Watchers: Keeping Tabs on the Officials"
And we've developed a pretty long list of Referees or Judges making sh*tty calls over the years that would be looked at sideways when they get assigned to a fight.

- Boxrec fans have Muro whooping Taps 115-113. I had it closer to the 118-110 card. After a slow couple rounds, Muro let loose and Taps lucky to have a good chin as most taking those shots would fold most fighters. We could see Taps grimacing thinking much more was forthcoming.

Mattice was also behind all the cards because of running mostly. Great, he surprised the unknown Cesena who was already the fan favorite solely because he came to fight and made a big emphasis of it, but he was never near incapacitated. Boxing has the least transparent scoring compared to major pro sports, and their rules only exist to be broken at will.
I will note however that there have been some good stoppages of late where the fighter was unable to fight back for an extended time and stopped.
Letting my DAZN subscription die. Had high hopes and stuck it out their poor roll out that was no better than illegal freezing streams, but then I saw it wasn't solely a boxing streaming service like I have advocated for years. They were all into every real and imagined sport in the world, so while their coverage is vast, their boxing content suffered from being small fish in big sports world. As they ironed out the bugs, I got some AJ and Canelo non ppv fights and a bunch of fights not normally on streaming platforms with a good look at Brit boxing, but they need to cut their celeb cast of "boxing experts" whose opinions only drag out the broadcast when it's only the fights I want to see.
And they ain't always broadcast in real time. When the fights would come on, I'd check boxrec to understand who these fighters were, and the result was often already recorded!!!

Note: The Numbers by their names indicate that their name was brought up as having made a controversial call that many more times than once. For each person to make the list you had to mention the Judge or Referee by name, and point out the fight in which their decision or officiating was egregiously bad. I don't recall anyone ever posting one that got any argument.
I'm 100% sure there's guys we've missed, but I think it's an admirable goal to try to point out corruption in Boxing when it happens.

Surely, Howard Foster needs to be on this list... Carl Froch vs. George Groves and more recently Fabio Wardley vs. Michael Coffie.

I'm sure a lot of people need to be on the list that we either missed or didn't bother to mention. It's not a 100% complete list, but you can damn well bet every name on the list deserves to be on it.

The Steve spark situation has to be the worst thing iv ever seen in boxing and really should be overturned…
I have Mabey seen worse robbery’s (Mabey) but the fact that the fight was organised with 2 USA judges and a Canadian judge, then last min the Americans got swapped for local Mexicans (supposedly spark didn’t even know till after the fight) and the Canadian had spark winning but the 2 Mexicans had the Mexican winning…. That’s as crook a situation as iv ever seen and there’s no way you can let that result stand when that kinda shenanigans is at play.
This needs a full investigation who swapped them? Under what authority? Why? How didn’t spark know? Coincidence they put in one of the rankest cards ever…. Could just be rigging it for mex pride… but I’d be looking around for connected people with bigggg bets on the Mexican.

Good call. The last minute swapping out of the neutral judges was diabolical. It wasn't like they suddenly became unavailable either.

Further to the Steve Spark fight. I am told the judges who were meant to preside even had their names announced by the ring announcer just prior to the first bell. Can anyone confirm that?

Well, after what I just saw, I’d say Tony Weeks is doing terrible - should be banned for life if he can’t explain that disgraceful performance.
He lost all respect, integrity etc…
Hopefully the commission has more going for it and overrides this rubbish

the fact that the ref and commission refused to give even a slight explanation is disgusting, they should be held accountable
dreadful stoppage, baroso was landing the better punches ffs

Mexican fighters tend to be on the right end of dodgy decisions. Just look at Canelo's career. He basically enters every fight with a 4-0 lead.
Steve Sparks fight was blatant corruption.
And today Rolly vs Barraso is probably the most corrupt fight I have seen. Barraso got TKO'd while landing fornicating punches.

End of the day they have an out.
If I were defending that I'd say Romero was getting on top, he actually was.
Weeks probably lost count of the rounds because at the time the bout was salvageable for Romero.
He just made sure of it.

Wow, just watched that stoppage.
The "knock down" is....
-a Big left hand is clean and hurts Baroso but he is steady on his feet.
-then a right hand cuffs with no real impact with a slight pause then rolly pushes him down.... So, its not even a real KD.
as for the finnish.....
-First its a missed left hand that drags his head to the side (while getting dinged on the ear himself...)
- Then a completly pushed right hand. Its not a punch thats a push. (illegal)
-Then simultanious messy shots to each others ear, (neither clean, neither significant.)
-Then a strait right that skims chin, skims neck and hits shoulder. (a nothing shot)
-Then he pulls his head down.
-then he misses an uppercut.
That has to be one of the worst things iv seen in boxing. mabey not as diabolical as the steve sparks thing (because the ref can always how fast it happens and his perspective), But undoubtably should be changed to a no contest and completely reviewed... Fvck boxing...

the funny/sad thing is that barroso got the better of the last exchange in the corner. in fact he was responding totally fine after the count prior to that too
