Press Release
Today, Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) and Real Fight Inc. (Real Fight), announced that they are partnering on August 5th, when Jake “The Problem Child” Paul and combat sports icon Nate Diaz will finally settle their growing feud over eight rounds at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, TX.
Paul v. Diaz will be contested at 185 lbs. with 10-ounce gloves, and will be distributed and co-produced globally by DAZN PPV and made available on all devices, platforms, cable, and satellite PPV providers around the world.
“Jake’s star power and popularity continue to command massive audiences worldwide. His most recent bout, Paul vs. Fury, surpassed more than 800,000 pay-per-view purchases and was a commercial success for all our partners. Jake remains one of the most avidly followed fighters in the sport and all eyes are on him, wondering what's next,” said Nakisa Bidarian, co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions.
"Well, what's next is one of the most vicious men ever in the cage. I couldn't be more excited to bring this fight to fruition with two of the most polarizing figures in the game, who have both shown the heart to fight through adversity. We are incredibly proud to work with Nate Diaz, Real Fight, DAZN, and American Airlines Center to showcase this thrilling matchup and have no doubt that Paul vs Diaz will be the hottest ticket in Dallas this summer.”
Over the last 18 months, Paul and Diaz have traded scathing public jabs about a potential fight, and now the duo will finally go head-to-head to settle the score.
Paul (6-1, 4KO’s) will be out for revenge as he prepares for his first fight since his split-decision defeat against Tommy Fury.
“We are incredibly excited to have this mega fight on DAZN around the world,” said Joe Markowski, CEO of DAZN North America. “One of the biggest names in boxing meeting one of the biggest names in MMA makes for a truly unique matchup on a global scale. Watch it live globally on DAZN PPV."
Diaz makes his boxing debut. Boxing has been a staple throughout his 17-years as a professional, which has included being a regular training and sparring partner of undefeated boxing legend, Andre Ward. Diaz headlined his last show for the UFC and capped it off by being the first person to ever submit Tony Ferguson. He has won 22-fights as a pro, including devastating Conor McGregor to hand the Irishman his first loss in the UFC.
“Nate’s departure from the UFC made him the most sought-after free agent in combat sports history with all eyes looking to see what his next move would be,” said Real Fight Inc. President, Zach Rosenfield.
“In choosing to make his boxing debut against Jake Paul, Nate found an opponent where there is an organic, non-scripted backstory that motivates him and will clearly capture the excitement of audiences throughout the world. Together with MVP, we look forward to producing an event worthy of the names of the marquee.”

Arrest warrant issued for Nate Diaz, KSI offers to replace him in fight with Jake Paul
Jake Paul’s next fight is now in at least some doubt, as the New Orleans Police Department issued an arrest warrant for his scheduled opponent Nate Diaz on Monday on suspicion of second-degree battery.
Paul and Diaz are currently scheduled to fight on Aug. 5 in a DAZN pay-per-view main event.
Diaz, 38, a former UFC star, was involved in what’s being called a “large altercation” early last Saturday morning. Diaz had been in attendance at the Misfits Boxing event at XULA Convocation Center, where Diaz was ejected from the event for throwing a bottle.
Later that night, Diaz had a confrontation with YouTuber Rodney Petersen, and a video that made the rounds on social media appeared to show Diaz choking Peterson unconscious in the middle of a larger-scale brawl.
At last report, Diaz was not in custody.
Paul vs Diaz has not officially been canceled, but Paul’s social media rival KSI has offered to step in Diaz doesn’t make the fight:
Paul accepted the offer in backhanded fashion:

Feel for diaz here. someone gets within a meter off you while a fights taking place even though you got your guard up.... Diaz instincts kick in chocks him out, unfortunatly stummble when he went to put him down and dropped his head into the road a bit....
I dont know the law much, is the guy pressing charges? or the cops doing it interdependent of him,....
looks pretty self defence to me (I accept the guy wasnt actualy trying to fight him, but i dunno, he just hung too close too long after diaz was in a defencive stance with his back against a wall. definatly could of been percived as a threat).

Technically, this is pro fight.
All that other stuff that doesn't count towards your record, like the stuff Triller was doing or the Austin McBroom guy, that's not boxing.

I didn’t realise it was a pro fight tbh, just tend to assume they aren’t

The only boxer Jake's fought is Tommy Fury.. The rest have been former MMA guys and a NBA player, All pro bouts though.

Yeah they were, still not a fan of these though so guess I don’t really see them as pro fights as invariably they aren’t from a boxing background, they won’t achieve anything in the sport and most of Jakes opponents are unlikely to ever box again, so it’s a pure one off money making event.

I know he did but these carefully picked opponents aren’t career professional fighters, they dip their toe in when it suits them

It's all about context though isn't it, Holyfield got knocked out in one round by a MMA fighter. And this is what I dislike about these fights because they use these type of wins as being some major achievement, beating guys way past their best who are also having these fights for an easy pay day.

I agree although I don’t think those two fights are comparable. Holyfield was almost 60…..Belford 44….. on the other fight, Silva was 46, 11 years OLDER than former world champ Chavez… so on paper a very impressive win.

Looks to be like Diaz just neutralised him, he didn't attempt any punches or kicks, and didn't go in for afters when he was on the floor. Be surprised if he's convicted of anything.

To be fair, few boxers are taking on anything near a meaningful challenge at this stage in their career. Whether they are journeyman boxers or former mma fighters, they are selected to be beaten.

Yeah I get that, I guess I just don’t like the way they shortcut their way to the big money and exposure when they’ve had little to zero boxing background and are either picking old men, blokes who aren’t even boxers or imposing weight limits, clauses etc to win fights. If he wants to be a pro then fine, why not do it like everyone else, he’s just using his celebrity to earn more money than most real fighters get close to earning in their entire lives. Do I blame him, no and I get why he does it, it’s easy money. I just don’t like that it’s allowed or entertained if you get what I mean. I guess it would be like a premiership football club putting a celeb on the bench and letting them run out and take a corner or free kick and run around for a bit, it might draw the crowds but if they were paying them loads of money as well it would make a mockery of the sport. Not a direct comparison obviously but kind of how I see it.

jake paul at least has put the work in for a good few years now and is fighting actual fighters, even if not all are boxers. did a better job on silva than chavez jr did! he also spars good boxers and has helped promote a few. it would hardly shock me if he could beat an area level pro. he can fight a bit, even if just a wee bit.
what annoys me more are the circus exhibitions where they just pluck 'influencers' without any background to fight each other, do ridiculous fake beef, and then those cards get posted all over here

Its just a good money-spinner.
When these 'YouTubers' are making more money and headlines than kids doing it the traditional amateur etc route, then you have to respect them.
Not something I enjoy watching. But best of luck to them.

i mean, i dont really see why an influencer taking an offer for an exhibition is something that must command our respect. nor would my respect for them rise or fall based on how much they are paid to have a slop fest with a youtuber on a mizfits card. i can certainly see reasons why they might take such an offer, but it's not rreally an issue of respect, just like if a pro took a big offer to fight a total can.from risk-reward perspective, we should be applauding that, but i wouldnt respect them for it
now, if someone gets their arse into serious shape, does legit sparring with boxers, helps to promote the sport etc.......i can respect that whether they are an instagrammar or not. it's why i have some grudging respect for jake paul,
