In 1998 there's no way in hell Buster could've beaten Roy. Probably couldn't even have won a round against him.

In 1998, Jones' speedy jabs and combinations to outbox Douglas to take a decision. However, if Jones faced the Tokyo Douglas, it would be a different outcome.

Roy's father thought otherwise-he advised him to pull out and not risk getting killed-his literal words.

:TU:

No surprise in retrospect that when Jones did make his heavyweight debut he picked the weakest link in the chain among the top 5 in John Ruiz. Douglas in this timeframe is a quesion mark though. From 1996-1999 he fought 9 times losing once to Lou Savarese.

40-2 Dicky Ryan and 22-3 Brian Scott were the only names he beat in that timeframe. Douglas was bigger than Ruiz and could box better than Ruiz, so who knows. I'll be the odd man out and say Douglas could've gotten a knockdown or two on Roy to win a squeaker decision.

In '98 nothing had been left from that Douglas, who was a top HW. Jones kayos the faded oldman.
