Anyone noticing any/many pros going back into the amateur ranks to get ready for Paris olympics?

-Harry garside went back to ams 2023.
-I believe sky Nicolas was planning on going back to ams.
-huni was going to last olympics and might this olympics instead? ….

Anyone got any non Australian examples?

Jalolov went 6-0 in the pros before going to the 2020 Olympics at 26 y.o. and winning gold. Had his next pro fight before the end of 2020 and is now 12-0.

imam khatev back to the ams too after a few pro fights

last world championships winners got 100k i think, a lot of these pros, even those signed with notable promoters, arent likely to be making much fighting 6/8 rounders on undercards. although it's not a bad thing if some pillow handed stink merchants go back to the ams

Jalolov is still fighting amateurs and is ranked Number 1 in the world despite recently losing to the number 2 amateur in the world.
I don't think Jalolov will ever take his pro career seriously

also, lol at his recent tournament ........ won his first fight on points, then won the next 3 on walk over to take the title. the uzbek government paying him well to keep fighting amateur? he has the tools to be a top hw contender, shame he isnt committing himself to the pros

last world championships paid 100k to the winners i think, maybe it's not just all about the olympics

This year´s World Championships is paying:
200.000 USD for Gold
100.000 USD for Silver
50.000 USD for Bronze

Pretty sure it´s more than for most pro world title bouts in most weight divisions, certainly the lighter one´s.

If we´re talking pros with less than 7 pro fights there must be around 100 boxers in the "amateur" circuit, plus all women. Most Uzbeks, Cubans, Kazakhs, Russians but also Spain, Argentina, Australia and others have boxers switching back and forth.

Since 2016 there are no restrictions on pro bouts to participate in amateur boxing, including the Olympics.

oh really. I had always thought it was a 10 pro fight limmit. Thats pretty interesting, if you dont have much going on i could imagine a world where plenty of pros are tempted...

some countries have big bonuses...

Azerbaijan is like 200k for gold, 100k for silver, 50 for bronze.
kazak 250k gold ect
italy 200k gold ect
thailand 300k+

Many more counties over 100k gold bonus, add in the fame and fortune it adds.... In the small weight classes, and in womens boxing especialy, you would be mad not to go back to the ams if you had a chance....

Would love to see GGG and Pac have a crack at it as a little retirment party. as unlikely as that is....

I'm surprised it's not exploited more for that kind of cash. Seems a bit wrong.

Some National Federations have restrictions, like in US, Ireland (I think) and other countries they don´t allow their pros to go back. And just to be selected for a World Championship and specially for the Olympics it will take several months of selection probably (like winning Nationals and getting some international result, obtaining a quota at Olympic qualifier, etc).

Adding to this the weight categories are different and you have to weigh in multiple times in 1-2 weeks. Not to mention the pace is much higher.

Estelle Mosselly, IBO World champion, 11-0 as a pro, went back and fought in the Worlds recently. She won her first bout but was completely outboxed in the second vs a Colombian who ended up winning silver (and a 50.000 USD paycheck).
