As life long boxing fan , this last year or so it seems boxing pretty much completely dead, I can't even really remember what last fight I saw was last fight can remember seeing was either 2nd fight of haney vs kambossos terrible fight , or navarette vs liam nilson and bivol fight ramierz its like 2 out of 3 crappy fights in a year.

Its really strange it's like boxing kind died all by itself.

There has been a lot of good fights since them fights you mentioned.

If you know what's on and where, then you won't be missing the good fights.

Plus, not all good fights are big fights.

It's not just you. Fights are made in slooooowwwww motion. Sick n tired of seeing cards like the following when fighters are in same division.

20(18)-0 vs 11(3)-7

24(16)-0 vs 4(1)-3

It's it not like the undefeated guys will ever fight each other.

It's streaming. Streaming killed it all dead for me.

If I can't just turn on my TV and watch it. I gotta search it out, have the data for it (I don't), and figure out this new fangled streaming bullsh*t to watch the fights.

I guess I just don't care that much.

I guess it hit us Louisiana guys the same way. I've watched exactly 1 card this year so far.

I think maybe 1 or 2 last year, but I honestly can't tell you for sure.

Wilder vs Fury 3 was the last BIG fight I watched.

The Days I was really watching the sport Religiously. Say 2002 thru 2005. I can tell who was fighting, what day it was, and detail for detail about the fight.

Now...I remember seeing Boxing a few months ago. And I struggle to remember who fought.

It's just not the same no more.

O'Shaquie Foster beating Rey Vargas. That was it. That's what I saw so far this year.

Man, I missed the Garcia/Tank fight. It's a big fight, but let's not act like it's on the level of Kovalev/Ward or Garcia/Matthysse. Fighters just aren't brought up well anymore, and cards are just stacked with terrible fights of some guy that is 20-0 and fights some 30-10 nobody. I'm getting sick of boxing, and I used to watch it all the time. Even watched the odd British, Russian, and Polish cards.

As recently as about 8 years ago I remember staying up until like 4 or 5 AM to catch a Thai Strawweight fight Live

But yeah basically Boxing has made itself more and more inaccessible as time goes on, and even when it is accessible. The big fights just ain't happening. So who cares?

Spence and crawford made me so disgusted i guess that in hindsight was my last straw.

Tank davis is light years better than ryan garcia. I didnt watch i knew who would win

I watched zhang v joyce because i knew it would be good and i dodnt know who would win.

Die hard fans seem to be the only ones who think the sport is dead and they've been complaining about it at least since the 50s

It's these grotesquely overpaid divas, fighting once per year, and being in a "carefully picked once per year bout" at that.
It's basically, 97-99 out of every 100 boxers out there are making a mere meager $200-$400 paycheck per bout, and having 4 to 6 bouts per year(Because of modern day bout frequency restrictions)(Used to be they'd commonly have 12-20 bouts per year).
Compare the earnings of the 97-99% to the 1-3% of boxer Divas, with the economics. The economics imbalance is criminally off the charts.
And like I basically pointed out, even the ever willing road warrior and worker boxers, "The Real Gypsies" of Boxing, are nowadays being restricted in they're frequency of activity(Boxing Bouts).
Boxing Needs to bring back a Specialty/Specialized show, just like Tuesday Night Fights, a very popular show on USA network which Shined bright throughout the 1980's, and onto the 1990's. The Good Ole days for Boxing fans, and many a Boxer as well.

It's just about dead. Greed killed it with multiple alphabet organizations and too many weight classes just so some jackass can get paid a sanction fee. Boxers not fighting the best and protecting their records. Amateur boxing is dying as well for other reasons, mostly the corrupt Russians have taken over the governing body and now the US, UK and other European countries are breaking away from AIBA/IBA to form a new governing body and the IOC is fed up with the corruption even though the IOC is just as corrupt but that's a different story.

Unfortunately this isn't just exclusive to boxing, this is a societal malaise.

40 years ago the richest 10% of people were said to have 90% of global wealth. Now they're saying it's the richest 1% that has 99% of global wealth.

Something is certainly happening, but it's not good.

Elite boxers have a way out, a way of throwing off their chains, but first they need money.

Lots and lots of it.

The global banks that run this world demand to be paid and their lackeys the governments are there to collect it for them by taxation. One of the 2 certainties in this life. The other one is death.

The real question for any boxer must be whether they can see their way past the dreaded taxman (+lawyers, accountants, managers, ex wives etc) to one day retire comfortably to the promised land.

Unfortunately as things stand, there's little to no structure to the way professional boxing is organised. It's mostly a closed shop, a meat market with a few favoured prize bulls.

The rest all go to the slaughterhouse. The modern day underbelly of boxing still makes pretty grim reading. It is a disgrace, but that's a different subject.

Until professional boxing decides to organise itself into a sport this is the way it's going to remain.

I'm certainly in favour of more tournaments like the World Boxing Super Series which could be open to the world's top ranked 64 or even 128 boxers in a one or two year cycle.

That way, everyone would get paid and everyone would have a chance to be champion. And also with this increased transparency, for the first time in decades the general public will have a fair idea as to how exactly the sport of boxing is organised.

Even better, it would once and for all get rid of those cherry-picking, belt-sitting prima Donnas who act like movie stars and somehow believe themselves to be entitled to remain that way.

If boxing is unwilling to do that, then it could at least force champions to regularly defend their titles or be stripped immediately. The practice of certain sanctioning bodies ignoring the belt holders of their rivals is an insidious one and it goes a long way in maintaining the corruption in boxing.

Whatever you may think of him, Tyson Fury is most certainly a top 5 heavyweight. Most of us understand that, yet strangely enough no one seems to have told the WBA, the IBF or the WBO.

None of those see fit to place him in their top 15.

Just how does that work?

I have great respect for fighters like Joe Joyce who regularly choose to take on high risk/ low reward fights (Dubois and Zhang), but as we've just seen brave decisions like that can prove to very expensive in the long run.

Boxing isn't dead, but the parasites that control it can make it appear as if it is.

Folks sometimes like to say boxing is dead. Fans know that it’s alive and well if other boxers are willing to do what Tank and Ryan did. That’s the issue.

I'm not sure what that quote implies though. I can only imagine it means promote/hype themselves heavily through social media whilst cherry picking opponents.

Guys, this one fight did better than expected therefore the sport is alive and well.
