Slobbery Koogz and that new ‘Parsons’ fella who looks like he’s come out the ground better up their game.

Never heard of ID Sports, but reading that it sounds like a step in the right direction. Kelsey Media bought BN and BM at the same time and killed BM off straight away which was an absolute disgrace.

BN seems to have incorporated more features and in-depth opinion pieces recently which are excellent. Their content during covid, when there was no boxing, was arguably their strongest ever. That knowledge and deep diving into the archives made for cracking issues every week in lockdown.

I'm a long time subscriber so will look forward to what this new combo will bring

As for Matt Christie I'd argue he is the best editor of BN in my 30 plus years of reading. Aside from producing such a high quality mag every week, the podcast with Alex Steedman is a must listen.

Proper boxing talk, no bull and not afraid to call things out when needed along with real humour and knowledge

This week's editorial, on the Benn issue, and calling out Eddie Hearn, whilst remaining entirely balanced, is just exceptional writing by Matt.

Highfield Boxing did an interesting take of the merger on his latest podcast, towards the end, worth a listen:

If that bloke from Highfield Boxing cant even use the Companies House website to inform his analysis, and his suggestion was that Boxing News should team up with Porky, then probably best noone listens to him about anything ever again.

Be interesting to see what they do with it, I like Matt Christie, and the way that he put his neck on the line in that documentary about the Irish mob and boxing. But he does have a blindspot with some of the dull writers he currently uses: It needs a new injection of talented writers and let’s see what Rob T brings, because apart from that tiresome guy with the gold teeth who has that deadly combo of thinking he’s far more funny than he actually is, bruv, some of the other stuff is very good. And Rob is pretty funny too.

Who’s the Highfield guy talking? He sounds like he’s one of those people who might actually go on a shooting rampage at some point

Sometimes we need to be very careful what we wish for because I'm not sure this is a very financially viable venture. Anyone that has ever been involved in the boxing media will tell you it is a business requiring long hours with very little personal financial reward.

Agree. I mean Claude Abrams stopped being involved in boxing for good. Went off to South America and opened a fitness company

That was nothing to do with money though, he has since explained that he couldn't justify supporting the sport due to the effect he had seen it having on many participants.

Oh did he? Well I understand his stance and in many ways back it. I think he’s a vegan as well?
I would think running BN would be very stressful and would take away a lot of the pleasure of boxing. It’s like being a chef I think….. takes away your love of making and enjoying food for yourself:

That was partly the reason I left as well.
