Deontay Wilder Arrested in LA, Charged With Possession of a Concealed Weapon

According to a report by TMZ, former WBC heavyweight world champion Deontay Wilder was arrested in Los Angeles following a routine traffic stop.

Law enforcement sources told the media outlet that Wilder was pulled over in Hollywood at around 1:15 AM after LAPD officers claimed his Rolls-Royce's windows were illegally tinted and his license plate was obstructed.

During the stop, cops say they smelled an odor of burnt marijuana coming from his vehicle -- so they searched the car.

TMZ, per their sources, indicates that officers allegedly found weed and a 9mm handgun in the vehicle, and put Wilder into custody.

The 6-foot-7 fighter was cooperative and friendly throughout the whole ordeal.

The 37-year-old was booked on a charge of possession of a concealed weapon. Jail records show he bonded out at 6:34 AM.

Wilder -- with a 43-2-1 fighter with 42 knockouts on his resume -- has been out of action since last October, when he demolished Robert Helenius in one round.

There is heavy talk that Wilder could potentially face former two-time world champion Anthony Joshua at the end of the year in the Middle East. Another longtime option is a WBC final eliminator against former unified champion Andy Ruiz.

Pretty minor offense here. His Lawyer likely squashes this one pretty easily, and if the rumors of the fight with A.J. are true then he'll have more than enough money to cover Lawyer's fees at years end.

Not wanting to derail the thread with US gun laws and all, but the idea of a concealed handgun being found in a traffic stop being a misdemeanor is pretty funny to us from the UK. Can you imagine how our cops would deal with a stoned black fella in a fancy car with a gun?

Forget the gun, marijuana’s a gateway drug. I hope Wilder surrounds himself with a good people (as in ppl who don’t smoke marijuana) from now on. He needs to get rid of the marijuana dealer in his entourage. If I was on the boxing board commission I would ban Wilder from boxing for one year. The message needs to be clear, don’t smoke marijuana. Mari-Jew-anna is bad, mmk!

That is correct because as of this writing 26 states have constitutional carry where you do not need a permit to carry a concealed weapon. Florida was the most recent to adopt constitutional carry.

I could list names the whole day of people I know and famous people who smoke marijuana that are infinitely brighter than you are. I'm not saying Wilder is one of them.

Einstein, It being illegal is what makes it a gateway drug. Also there is such a thing as an addictive personality. So whether it's a legal or illegal drug, someone with an addictive personality is more prone for habitual use. If you had any intelligence, you would have known all this already. But you're not, so you didn't.

The revolver incident can be put down to Deontay forgetting to apply for an out of state licence.

It's only wise to be prudent after what happened after that notorious Mike Tyson fight.

It's also nice to read that Wilder was being a gentleman about the inconvenience the police officers caused.
