Honestly I could see Pavlik beating Jackson even though Jackson had the better career.

JJ would catch Pavlik with a big right hand flush on the jaw and knocking him out in 6 rounds.

It would have to be an overhand right though, because of the height difference.
Jackson had "A Great Straight down the Pipe" Right hand punch. A Great Equalizer Punch versus 5'9-6'0 boxers.
Pavlik is 6'2-1/2. A Very Big MW, who eventually fought at 175, and was still a Good sized and Strong LHW. Jackson is around 5'10-1/2, to maybe 5'11. He was a Natural 154 guy.

And also, How exactly was his "Overhand right" punch...? I never saw him use it. It's really the only way he can reach Pavlik with a definitive power punch. Overhand right simply wasn't in Jackson's arsenal. It very likely would've only been a mediocre ordinary type of punch if he tried it. It simply wasn't his forte.
In conclusion, i see this one going similarly to the Edison Miranda bout, as he was overall, pretty similar to Julian Jackson.

Sorry Angry Goon, I wasn't specific that I meant Jackson's right cross that he put Pavlik out cold and their height difference wasn't big by 3 inches. Also you forgot their reach difference were very close by 2 inches with Pavlik's reach was 75 while Jackson's reach was 73. Jackson would throw fast punches on Pavlik, then he would find his way to catch him off the corner or ropes with a big right cross flush on the jaw that put Pavlik to sleep in 6 rounds like I commented earlier. Jackson wasn't throwing wild punches to land if you every watch his fights.

I recently watched a classic Roy Jones Jr bout, from 1992, where he was beginning to fight at SMW.
I forget the opponents name(Of course..Cause I'm old), but anyway, his height I remember. 6'3.
Jones Jr was 5'11.
Roy was really going at it with wide looping haymakers, pretty much throughout the bout, until putting his opponent
Away in the last seconds of the 4th round. Roy's reach was listed at 75". That's what Pavlik's was as well.

I recommend watching this particular bout. The commentators were great.
Lampley, Larry Merchant, and GiL Clancey.
GiL was one of the best Boxing commentators of all time.
He was emphatically pointing out that Roy Had to throw those types of punches to reach a much taller opponent.
George Foreman also pointed it out in a short interview and bout analysis, after the bout had ended.

Also, it needs to be realized that Jackson was himself Ko'd 6 times.
His lack of durability would certainly be in question versus Pavlik, who was no pillow fist.
Pavlik took Many hard flush punches from Hopkins and he never went down.
Never even got wobbly.
Hopkins knocked Calzahge down, so Hopkins cannot be ever called a pillow fist either.
He also put away Trinidad, and Delahoya.
