Derek 'Sweet D' Williams

Feel it's gone a bit under the radar on here, but I think he's excellent in his role as a columnist for Boxing News. Really insightful and balanced perspective. He's become an absolute must-read for me and i'm surprised he hasn't picked up TV work off the back of it.
Wasn't a bad fighter as well in his time!

My only ever ringside seat.
It was Lewis McCrory night at RAH
I bought the ticket thinking it would impress the bird who worked for Levitt (who sold it to me).
If didn’t work Although I got a great night boxing on my own and the rest of the night..,.,

Of that column, I thought wow, this is incredibly insightful and articulate stuff from someone who must have taken severe damage sparring and boxing as a journeyman …but then I realised the column was ghost written.

Vast majority of columns of this nature are, but you can still get a clear sense of the individual’s insights etc. Rooney’ in The Sunday Times is another good example.
By contrast, you could have a guest column from BJS and not even the best ghostwriter in the world could turn it into something consistently readable.

Not many fights I've gambled on, but this was one of them. I had the correct round for Lewis to stop him. Few quid there.

Used to do a fair amount of analysis work, wasn't the greatest - but then perhaps compared to the latest batch of analysts he would be more articulate - being alongside Watt and McGuigan most would look poor.
