Duane Bobick vs Alfredo Evangelista (1977)

Remember Don King wanted to stage this fight? He said that following Bobick's flop against Norton and after Evangelista's loss to Ali.
Great match-up without a doubt. Similar styles, same size, and comparable power. Lots of scrappy inside action. Both were rated in the lower top-ten at the time. TV would have bought this one and plenty of fans would have watched.
I think Bobick beats down Alfredo and wins by late round KO. Duane was too strong. His chin wouldn't have been a liability because Alfredo wasn't a grade A power hitter.
In 1977, Bobick's managers blew it twice in a row. First, they passed over an Ali fight - a golden opportunity for Duane - in favor of fighting man-eating tiger Norton. Next, Bobick's handlers missed out on a chance to redeem him by beating up the world-rated Alfredo.
Tsk tsk tsk. Shame on Joe Frazier and Eddie Futch. They didn't make the right calls for Duane.
