I have to say Arthur vs Gomez for me. What a fight that was. I rewatch it regularly.

Good call! That was some scrap. The first one that comes to mind would be Benn vs Watson. Not one clinch and the conflicting styles. Watson weathered the storm and took over. A classic it was.

Funnily enough when I read the thread title Arthur v Gomez popped straight into my head.

Managed to find an HD video of it as well, I’d usually been watching horrendously pixelated vids.

Nicky Piper v Leeonzer Barber was tense and fairly exciting.

Mark Kaylor v Roy Gumbs

New kid on the scene Frank W tries to break through the Duff Lawless cartel’s hold on the UK boxing scene, by putting his British MW champ Gumbs in a defence against their young gun hope West Ham’s Mark Kaylor. There’s talk of the hard hitting Gumbs getting a shot at Hagler soon.

Big crowd there for Kaylor and it’s a firefight.
Turns on one punch after a knockdown (foreshadowing another British MW clash a few years later ) and only Jim Watt spots it

Four? I’d throw in my guy Carl Johanneson v Kevin Mitchell, a truly great fight also on a FW card. Matchroom had four there too, Hobson two and Maloney one.

Liam Walsh against Paul Appleby was a cracking fight as well. If my memory serves me right I think it might of been Bocksnations first fight night

I'd of loved to have been in the audience the night Jim Jefferies fought the three best heavyweights in England in a single night. Later on he wanted to replicate that feat with Corbett, Fitzsimmons and Sharkey on the same night but it never came off.

Andries v Harding 3 and McAuley v Blanco 1 were both compelling. Were I older, I would like to have seen Roy Ankrah v Ray Famechon, Sugar Ray Robinson v Randolph Turpin, Dave Charnley v Joe Brown, and Joe Frazier v Joe Bugner.

I was fortunate enough to be ringside on both the Jamie Moore fights mentioned and he was also involved as the trainer in another memorable fight for me .
Tommy Coyle V Daniel Brizuela at the ice Arena in Hull .

That was some fight with both fighters getting off the floor four times during the fight . I was ringside and recall the grit , persistence & determination from Coyle as he somehow got up twice in one round midway in the contest. Coyle eventually won in the very last round but Brizuela deserved to hear the final bell that night .

On a side note at the show Leigh Wood got stopped by Gavin McDonnell and Curtis Woodhouse became British Champ .

John McDermott v Larry Olabamiwo. It was so good, they took it off youtube.

Great card that night at RAH

Hunter v Pickering my favourite night. The old Borough Hall in Hartlepool was bouncing. Hunter was a 5/2 betting outsider and down twice in the first two rounds. Yet he was a man possessed that night. He would not be denied and slowly broke Esham’s heart. Really hellacious war between a British and European champion, each with contrasting styles. It’s what’s boxing is all about.
