BoxRec: List the Fury vs Ngannou Fight!

If you could do it for Mayweather-MacGregor, and can list several other crossover matches such as Archie Moore vs Sterling Davis, Mike DiBiase and Roy Shire where the champion of another sport made their debut against a boxing champion or against some contender such as Tony Galento vs Freddie Blassie, then you need to suck it up and list Fury-Ngannou or otherwise you should expunge the records of potentially hundreds of boxers across various weight classes in the past who have wrestlers, martial artists, etc on their records.

Have some damn integrity. Don't be hypocrites.

Gareth A Davies just wrote a Telegraph article stating this was an exhibition fight under boxing rules.

You bring up Mayweather, but his exhibitions under boxing rules are not included on his record either. Maybe that is why

Davies himself said the other day it wasn't an exhibition, lol. Warren said it wasn't an exhibition and the WBC gave permission to allow it to happen. It is a professional fight that is ten rounds with judges. That is why there is a rematch cause.

@ 2:50.... Davies says, "it's a prizefight," and when the cohost calls it an exhibition in another clip he corrects him that it's not an exhibition. Whoever is in charge of Fury's profile in the database is a joke. Whoever is his editor needs to be removed. People are doing it just for laughs at this point.

Before you jump on the Boxrec Editors maybe you need to give the Promoters of the Event sh*t for not deciding what their event is.

Is it a fight or an Exhibition?

Are they promoting it as a fight or as an exhibition?

I certainly don't think it's a case of someone trying to keep a win off of Fury's record or anything like that. Just a case of them not quite being clear on how to label this thing since the organizers of it aren't even clear themselves apparently.

I'm reacting off of the ignorant posts in the British and Irish section claiming that boxrec.com is purposely not listing the fight and them celebrating it.

Furthermore, Warren has already said that it's not an exhibition and is the real thing because Eddie Hearn lied saying that it was before the fight was publicly announced, so it needs to be listed as a professional fight.

I'm not trying to be funny, but Warren says a lot of things and TalkSport Radio is hardly a legitimate source that I would be willing to hang my hat on.

Though, I do acknowledge what you are saying all the same. But at the same time that telegraph article has today's date on it.

The article is by Gareth A Davies and Telegraph Sport, so I would like to think they have fact checked anything they have written there. So, I'm going to go with this being an exhibition bout until something a little more concrete is available that proves otherwise. I imagine boxrec is probably doing the same.

It's supposed to be going down in like 3 months right? I'm sure that's plenty of time for them to get it sorted what exactly they'll be classifying it as.

I figure since Fury got permission from the WBC to do this, it has to be a genuine contest, because an exhibition effects nothing.

My guess is that they haven't got it sanctioned yet which is why there are mixed opinions. They are probably hopping between boxing boards to try and find one to sanction it.

Like I said, this fight stinks. A man with 0-0 boxing experience vs. the heavyweight champion of the world in boxing? If that is not enough the man is injured and will be 37 soon.

Fury, I am done with you. It's a pity that you rip off boxing fans.

It feels like its an exhibition. but i really dont know wwhat it is.... i guess the question is, if its a pro fight, whos it sanctiond by as such. i cant just have my mate billy fight my mate bob and me sanction it as a pro boxing match because i wanna....
some org from some where with some credibility has to put there name to it as a pro bout if thts the way the want to go.

It's the middle east. They would sanction a sword fight.
