Great fight, and it could go either way. But I'd put my money on Lyle, who was a more determined, competitive fighter than Witherspoon, who was often unfocused and sluggish.

I say Ron bangs out a hard-fought decision, which could be close or wide depending on which version of Witherspoon enters the ring.

It could gone either way by decision and I admire both of them, but imo Witherspoon would make Lyle look "Terrible" with good jabs and overhand right hands behind his cross-armed defense to take a decision in 12 or 15 rounds.

You don't think Lyle would have an answer for Spoon's left-jab and overhand right? I can see what you're thinking,. We all sometimes saw Lyle outboxed by good jabbers. Terrible Tim could certainly jab (and bang).

But, when Lyle wanted, he could box quite effectively. On those occasions he'd bounce on his toes like a beachball, dance circles around his foe, and throw whiplash jabs. Lyle would mix those tactics with what he otherwise tended to do, which was flat-footed, heavy-fisted slugging. See the Ali fight for evidence. You can see flashes of the same in Ron's match with Bugner.

Lyle might have been good enough as a tactical boxer to neutralize Spoon's jab and overhand rights.

Lyle by UD or late ko. He could box (see the Ali fight) and he could brawl (see vs Foreman) and he could take the best shot at HW all time (see Shavers)
