That should fly in court, what a beta. My guess is that he'll flip on Trump to save his own ass.

It seems like Trump is in trouble here, only if 5% of charges stick!
On the other hand if he doesn't go to jail after all this, it will be the biggest waste of time and money in the history of America

Now McCarthy is going to have the House start an impeachment investigation into Biden with little to no evidence he himself did anything impeachable. What a clustereff Washington is these days. What a lightweight McCarthy is. Really too bad for him that he has such a tiny majority because he has to do shyte he knows is stupid because he made his deal with a dozen Margie Taylor Greene types to suck their azz or they can oust him. Republicans in the US House should just go ahead and make Margie or Matt Getz Speaker of the House. Go full-on partisan nut.

Impeachment proceedings against Trumpy helped Republicans. This will probably help Biden at a time when his polling numbers are slumping and he is looking increasingly beatable in 2024 (Remember how well impeachment over lying about a blowjob worked against Clinton in the 1990s)

I saw an interview months ago when one of the wingnuts, I think it was MTG, literally said in so many words that they were going to impeach Biden, and they didn’t know what they would impeach him for, they just knew they were going to impeach him. They’ll come up with the charges later.

Yeah, Seamus was touting this notion last year before Repubs had a majority, and he was right. Some of the things she brings up - like not doing enough to stop illegal immigration - are just silly (if that is your issue, pretty much every president over the past 40 years would be impeached). She also gave a quote today making it clear they want to (surprise) drag it out through the 2024 election to toss dirt on Biden (election interference? Where have I heard that?), knowing full well Biden won’t be impeached in the end. The idea that they are investigating Biden’s idiot son and trying to pin it on Biden is rich considering the millions Trump’s grifting family made off his term in office.

How much is being spent on this? there are some pretty massive wastes out there. the usa gov spends 1.7b a year to maintain empty buildings for example

over a trillion was spent on the iraq war and the entire region became an even bigger flaming shithole

I am hearing stuff from some on the Dem side of the fence who are eager for Biden to step down, but as with the Reps the paucity of 'marketable' and known/prominent candidates would seem to be to be a major stumbling block

it's utterly incredible to me that nobody on the Dems side has really mentioned a fucken thing about (EG) Jared Kushner's 'Investment Fund' (    ) got billions from the Saudis at all, never mind in the context of the decisions made around that time.

they don't really make much of the fact that Trump grifted so much by overcharging for Secret Service details in his hotels, either

or that he regularly leaves towns and cities unpaid for the costs of hosting his cult meetings/ rallies

IE that he has continually diddled the US taxpayers ever since he was in office

The Dems just aren't very good at keeping negative press, that actually sticks, in the public eye.

It's done strictly for show because it's next to possible to remove a President without his own party turning on him. Yesterday I had a polite argument with a conservative Republican who thought it was ridiculous at this stage to attempt to impeach Biden. So I asked her if she thought the Democrats would try to impeach even DeSantis if he won in 2024 and she answered "Probably", to which I responded with "well there you go".

Why would the try to impeach DeSantis? Just because Trump was twice impeached for very impeachable offences?

we have to display our victimhood in advance of actually being persecuted, in the modern Republican party.

we have to pretend that the Dems are just impeaching without any grounds whatsoever (once again the Russia probe hurts them here, IMO, and I said this at the time, because actually nailing Donny on that one was IMO always going to be impossible, and no matter how many of his flunkey lapgdogs were actually found guilty of various forms of contact and collusion with Russia, none of that would ever stick to Donny or lead to the public thinking the Russia impeachment was valid)

CF also Trump saying before the election that he was going to be cheated

etc etc etc etc

as several commentators on the left point out often, with the Repubs its often pure projection, just accuse the other dude of the exact nefarious baseless shite that they would be (are) pulling themselves.

never mind that the Dems haven't even mentioned impeaching RDS, their shills like to pretend that mTG saying she was going to impeach Biden 2 years ago without even knowing why is somehow in response to identical behaviour by the DEms, its very, very important to these people to either believe or pretend to believe that this is something that they are entirely reasonable about and, indeed, being forced into.

Yeah, the impeachment bit is a game of false equivalents. I disagreed with the Russia interference impeachment (and said so at the time). Not because it wasn't possible that it happened, but because IMO you don't impeach a president on something like that unless you catch him rehanded, and IMO they didn't. The second one for Jan. 6 I was fine with me, although it was only symbolic by then. If you don't think Trump incited the Capitol riot knuckleheads to act you are lying to yourself. To compare inciting your supporters to commit violent acts at the Capitol (no, they weren't just tourists) and disrupt the presidential electoral college vote count vs starting an impeachment investigation that is essentially looking to dig up dirt in the year before the election is clearly not equivalent. This is exactly what Newt and the boys did with Clinton in the 1990s, and his poll numbers went up because the public recognised it as a petty fishing expedition. Repubs would be better off just continuing to shit on Biden for his policies or the fact that he's 300 years old and can't remember where he is sometimes

Just as a correction, there was no impeachment over the Russia collusion situation, just a lengthy investigation.

The first impeachment had to do with the $400 million in military aid we were giving to the Ukraine. Trump was on tape trying to hold it back in exchange for dirt on Joe Biden. He wanted Zelenskyy to announce an investigation into Hunter Biden's various business dealings. He didn't get what he wanted and simultaneously had Giuliani go off to the Ukraine to dig for more rumors they could slather on Joe Biden to hurt him in the 2020 election. Which we're now seeing the result of anyway.

Wisconsin Repubs currently want to impeach an incoming State Supreme Court judge before she has even made a ruling

but yeah, guys, carry on acting like it's the other side that are the extremists on this issue, like you're being forced to impeach someone

they are scared that this judge won't let them fix gerrymandered districts- basically the judge might defend democracy in some way, so let's impeach!!!!

In 2011, Republicans gerrymandered Wisconsin’s state legislature so badly that the party can win supermajorities despite losing the popular vote, as it did in 2018. Voters have fought back, and earlier this year they elected Janet Protasiewicz to the state supreme court, ushering in a new liberal majority which looked poised to finally overturn the gerrymander and bring democratic regime change to Madison.

But Wisconsin Republicans have no intention of seeing their undeserved power slip away. They’re proposing to impeach Protasiewicz on spurious charges before she has ruled on a single case, paralyzing the court and leaving the gerrymander intact.

When Trump argued that he was the real winner of the election because the votes of people living in Democratic-leaning urban areas were somehow fraudulent and should not count, he was repeating arguments that Wisconsin Republicans had already honed. The speaker of the state assembly, Robin Vos, has explained that the state’s gerrymander is fair because “if you took Madison and Milwaukee out of the state election formula, we would have a clear majority”. Because Madison and Milwaukee are the parts of the state with the largest concentration of non-white voters, Vos has revealed what the Wisconsin gerrymander is really about: race.

There is a long history in the United States of skewed electoral systems being used to suppress the voices of minority voters, and Wisconsin’s is only the latest example. Like their predecessors in other states, Wisconsin Republicans have been remarkably frank about their intention of ensuring that minorities stay in their place. When Democratic gubernatorial candidate Tony Evers powered to victory in 2018 with massive wins in Madison and Milwaukee, the Republican legislature used a lame-duck session to strip him of much of his power. Not content with that, Evers’ Republican opponent in 2022, Tim Michels, promised that if he was elected then Republicans in Wisconsin “will never lose another election”.

Yes, and the first impeachment was 100% warranted and should have resulted in a conviction.

mmm. Mmmmmmmmmmmm.

i grew up around plenty of her UK equivalents, and I have a soft spot for that whole trashy-and-dumb-but-hot thing. It's like regressing to my teenage fantasies, girls like her were most of what was around me to slaver over.

like, she even got a warning during the intermission, for vaping, and being too loud, and recording the show.

But did she take heed?   not our Lauren.

I think she quite likes a drink or two

speaking of MAGA fembots, who do we think is the hottest out of the women in the Trump orbit?

Melania

Ivanka

Lara (married to Eric)

or perhaps the delectable Kimberley Gilfoyle?

personally, hell Melania back in the day was super-hot and had smokey eyes and cheekbones and sh1t, nowadays I'd go for Lara before Ivanka though, Ivanka is over-rated.
