Helenius is a real trooper for accepting this only a few days after his last fight.
That's what you call being flexible.
It will be interesting to see whether he can do a better job as a fall guy than he did in his notorious clash with Deontay Wilder.
Some paying punters seemed happy with the result of that 'epic' 1 rounder but others suggested that Helenius professionally going down the way he did wasn't quite up to an Oscar winning performance, maybe a boxing Oscar though.
Of course it was perfectly understandable that Helenius didn't want to get KO'ed by a Wilder special the way Brezeale did, also in the 1st round, but I'm hoping he'll give Joshua a better workout than he gave his friend Wilder.
Anyway, nice work by Eddie, managing to square the circle in record time. Especially as he's offering a full refund for all those who bought tickets to see the less interesting AJ v Whyte 2.

Joshua seems to be as casual as I've ever seen him.
Helenius meanwhile claims he should be in Lapland (but the money was too good).
Nevermind, after a couple of rounds of light sparring, he may well be once Joshua connects.
I get the feeling AJ wants to send out a clear message here.

Joshua says "I want to take him out in round one if I can. I need to take him out."
But will Joshua try to take Helenius out in round one? Or will we see him tiptoeing around like he is in a minefield, like he did in the Ruiz rematch?

It's funny how hearing someone else's opinions can affect your own opinions especially when it comes to heavyweight boxing.
Dwyer makes the points the Joshua hasn't exactly shone in his last few fights and hasn't scored a big knockout for quite a while.
He also seems to believe that Helenius is the bigger puncher and that Joshua hasn't always shown a good chin when caught unexpectedly.
This leads him to conclude that the odds, something like 1/9 for a Helenius KO are simply too tempting.
However, even given all of that, I'm still expecting Joshua to make easy work of Helenius.
The gap in quality is just too great.
Yes, Helenius could win, but the chances are remote, Anthony Joshua is just better in every single department.

dreadful fight from chisora and washington. chisora deserved the decision because washington did nothing but hold and back peddle for most rounds, but chisora's balance was shot and his punches wider than ever

Most of Joshua best wins are with fighters who had names much past their prime
Helenius = 39
Klitshcko = 41
Povetkin = 39
etc

Mark Petrovskii might make some noise. Really good amateur pedigree given he is still young for modern heavyweights.

Down the road, him and Torrez could be a really fun fight. Well it'd be really fun right now, but down the road it would mean more.

Saw him beat Vishev, I like his style, hits hard and looks durable. A bit short but he beat the much bigger guy and youth is on his side.

Nothing to be impressed with. Helenius came for a paycheck.

This time the knockout did look genuine and Helenius does have power, look at Josh's face, but you can't help feel that Helenius is just a little too accomodating in the biggest fights.
As a Joshua fan I wasn't pleased to see when he started asking his corner why he couldn't land his right hand.
It must be one of the oldest questions in boxing. Boxers and fans so often seem to expect it to happen, or even demand it to happen.
Completely forgetting the fact that the opponent is sometimes doing his very best to make sure that it doesn't.
No one in boxing, not Sonny Liston, George Foreman or even Mike Tyson was able to knock out everyone they faced.
Sometimes all the power in the world is not enough, some skill is needed.
Anyway, this should hopefully give Anthony Joshua enough confidence to give Deontay Wilder, the one shot artist, yet another sound boxing lesson when they meet next year.

Helenius was a perfect stiff to not derail the AJ-Wilder fight. I mean they found him with great success.

Helenius is chiny as you mates say. I don't think he just came for the paycheck; he was trying to win, but if you can't take the punch, or avoid it, not much you can do.

Absolutely it was.
In a way that's not a bad result if we finally, finally get to see Joshua v Wilder.

Joshua questioning whether the booing was directed at him or Helenius :
"Were they booing me or Helenius? That is the question, who were they booing?" - Anthony Joshua
Could Joshua really be this delusional?

If it's Wilder, it looks like a shoot out.
Both of them have questionable chins.
Joshua's weight advantage and steady boxing ability versus Wilder's flexibility power and speed.
Sounds like a good fight to me.
