Viddal Riley Next Fight vs Unbeaten Nathan Quarless

Internet sensation Viddal Riley (9-0, 6 KOs) and Liverpool’s Nathan Quarless (12-0, 0 KOs) will collide in a battle of undefeated fighters, per the BBBofC’s latest circular.

Riley and Quarless will meet for the English Cruiserweight title on Saturday, September 16 at the 1200-capacity York Hall, London. The show is expected to be a Ben Shalom/BOXXER promotion live on Sky Sports.

After starting his career in North America with Mayweather Promotions, Riley signed with BOXXER in 2022 and went 3-0 in six-round contests.

The 26-year-old has recorded back-to-back, fourth-round inside-the-distance wins over Anees Taj this year and now steps up to ten rounds into his first title fight.

Merseyside’s Quarless has come up through the small hall route under the guidance of Steve Wood’s VIP Promotions.

The 27-year-old has never boxed outside of Liverpool or scored a stoppage victory in his twelve wins.

Quarless’ only notable win came in Nov 2021 when he convincingly beat Steve Collins Jr in an 8-round contest.

After a long wait to get a title opportunity on a TV show, Quarless finally gets his big chance at York Hall on Sep 16.

NoSmokeSport is unaware of any other bouts on the show/what will headline the card. Per Sources, Adam Azim’s return was originally touted for this date before it was moved to Sep 2 – as first reported by NSS.

Caroline Dubois challenges for the IBO title on September 30, live on Sky Sports, with Viddal Riley and Callum Simpson on the same Boxxer bill.

The 22-year-old lightweight takes a sizeable step up in class against Mexican veteran Magali Rodriguez in only her eighth fight in the bill-topping bout of BOXXER: Breakthrough at London's York Hall.

Dubois won her professional debut on points in February 2022 and then stopped her next five opponents before a points victory over Yanina del Carmen Lescano in June.

Rodriguez is a former WBA world title challenger and current WBC title holder with nine knockouts among her 22 victories to date.

Dubois has named Katie Taylor and Mikaela Mayer as targets and a win over Rodriguez would stake her claim for a big-name bout.

Two of the country’s top young cruiserweights will also put their undefeated records on the line in a battle for the vacant English cruiserweight belt when Riley faces Nathan Quarless.

Callum Simpson and Germaine Brown will also meet in a super-middleweight showdown between two all-action fighters who rarely take a backwards step.

Her ambition is as big as her talent, but even I didn’t expect her to blast her way to a world title opportunity in just eight fights.

It’s a classic north-south rivalry, with the outstanding Riley on home soil in London and the slick Quarless heading down from Liverpool looking to silence the home fans.

This was supposed to be week earlier. Riley was supposed to headline.. But he's been relegated and now Dubois is headlining.

Dubois against Rodriguez is a better fight than Riley v Quarless. Rodriguez coming off a proper result, defending her WBC Silver title with a draw against Tony Yoka's other half Estelle Mossely in (for some reason) Tajikistan - first dent in Mossely's record as a pro. So it should be a proper step up for Dubois - only thing that is hard to read is what Rodriguez's best weight actually is - she was just under 140 against Mossely but 127 for an eight-rounder three months earlier. Dubois-Rodriguez still feels like it should be chief support to something better, but Riley v Quarless isn't it.

A trio of bouts were announced today for a BOXXER: Breakthrough event on Saturday, September 30th at London’s historic York Hall.

Dubois (7-0, 5 KO’s) scales new heights when the 22-year-old prodigy steps up to challenge for the IBO lightweight world title in just her eighth professional bout. The prodigious Dubois faces power-punching Mexican veteran Magali Rodriguez (22-6-4, 9 KO’s).

Last year, Dubois - a Youth Olympics champion in her amateur career - told interviewers she wanted to win a world title in 2023 in order to put herself in position for big fights with big-name opponents, naming both Mikaela Mayer and Katie Taylor as specific targets.

Two of the country’s top young cruiserweights will put their undefeated records on the line in a North vs South battle for the vacant English cruiserweight championship when London’s Riley (9-0, 6 KO’s) - himself a Youth Olympian like Dubois - faces Liverpool lad Quarless (12-0).
