This is a fight that if it happened in Larry Holmes prime, probably would have had the first loss of his career. Riddick Bowe was better than Tim Witherspoon. He was better than Ken Norton, I don't know in boxing achievements if he was better than Norton, but at least I could say in skills.
Riddick Bowe had the tools to be a true all time great at heavyweight and pound per pound. But, he was lazy as fuuckk. How lazy? Maybe too lazy. But, when motivated and with the great Eddie Futch as his trainer in his corner, he was a great fighter.
The Bowe that beat the great Larry Holmes in fight #1 was the very best version of him. And he could have been much more better. That wasn't his peak as far as he could have gone. But it was what it was.
Bowe by decision.

Bowe would be outjabbed. The only other fighter who did that was golata and bowe was confused as all hell
Holmes ud

Bowe wasn't even in the best of shape after 1993 with the great Evander Holyfield.

He was befuddled when someonenoutjabbed him - in shape or not he was flawed. Golota exploited it
Holmes outjabs him

Who cares, McBride beats them both.

Bowe would've definitely given Holmes all he could handle, but assuming it's a 15 rounder those extra 3 rounds are gonna give Holmes the Championship advantage, and he'd win all 3 of those rounds.
It's quite possible Bowe could KO him along the way. If someone is gonna get KO'd in this fight, it'll be Larry.
That said, if he can weather the scarier moments, and get back to his jab, yes he would indeed outjab, and outbox Bowe. Holyfield did it in the 2nd fight with Bowe.
It'd be a very competitive scrap, and is a fun one to think about.
It feels like a fight where I can see several possible outcomes.

Very, very tough fight to call. But I lean in favor of Holmes because he is such a proven ATG. Larry wins on points in a real war, and the decision is close. Holmes's left-jab probably makes the difference.
I could easily imagine something like a trilogy between this pair, where Riddick wins the first bout, and Holmes avenges himself in the next two.
As already pointed out in this thread, Bowe's fights against Golota don't tell us much. That's because Bowe's last high quality performances were in 1994 and 1995, before he met the Foul Pole.

12 Rounds is not enough, but 15 rounds is better and more classic. In this mythical matchup, while both had equal reach, but Holmes' left jabs was greater and quicker as he would outbox the bigger Bowe along nailing him with good big right hands to take a decision in 15 rounds.
