What constitutes a low blow - top referee explains

Jack Reiss, who refereed Fury-Wilder 1 provides some clarity on what is and isn’t a low blow :
“Everybody’s belly button is different, some are lower and some are higher. So you can’t use the belly button. The hip line is the low blow point – the belly button has nothing to do with it.
A low blow is any time the majority of the gloves is below that hip line. On the hip line is legal, and it doesn’t become illegal until a majority of the glove starts to get below it.
This is why we identify the hip line for everybody before a fight – this is the line, don’t hit below this.”

top of hips are usually about in line with belly button, so it useful for a rough idea
as is evident, a punch can be a low blow without being in the balls or dick - there's a significant distance actually

A legit low blow is in the lower part of the pelvic region like in the pubic bone region. Usyk was hit on the belly button.

nah, clearly contact below the belly button, unless he has a deformed upper body
dub's glove goes so low that part of it is in line with the lower part of the design on usyk's trunk leg

you need to learn the rules, a low blow is basically anything below the top of the hips, not the pubic bone

Usyk has those trunks/waistband pulled up over his belly button. Look carefully. When he was down, Hearn said that Usyk was pulling down his trunks.
Look at the video, that uppercut full contact is on the waistband.

no , there is clearly contact well below the waistband. do you have vision? the glove even connects as low as the top of the rope there
evidently, you have no idea about the rules on low blows. if it's below the top of the hips it's low, it doesnt have to be the pubes

That's why they should rapidly introduce VAR technology in boxing.

lol, showing a right handed punch from the left side, ya let's get the worst view possible

3:44 for a better angle. Usyk's waistband covers his belly button.
Usyk's entire abdomen is a "low-blow" area.

ya pretty much every fighter has their trunks up to their belly button, dubs had them even higher. fury and wilder both do too above. are you new to boxing? you seem to have this idea that dudes are fighting with their trunks at their pubes, like dudes showing off on the beach or something
dubs did one better than the waistband and hit him below it - clear low shot if you actually knew the rules
hey look everyone, it's how apollo thinks fighters are supposed to wear their shorts

OK, if this is real, it’s actually pretty fking dumb.
1. Belly button is actually quite a good point of reference. I know that because in my work I measure people’s bodies on everyday basis and one of the measurements is with tape, exactly on the level of belly button. So unless you’re obese and your belly (together with belly button) is hanging way down, it’s a steady one that people will have roughly at the same height in relation to other body parts.
2. There’s no such thing as a fking ‘hip line’ and if it was, it would be quite tricky to establish as well as quite low because hip is a joint and it’s located much lower than most people think. It’s pretty much level with pubic bone so it would always mean a borderline ball shot.

the bbbc, abc and other orgs have the belt line as an imaginary line at the top of the hips, not at the joint connecting the hip to the thigh.
shots below the top of the hip are below the belt per those rules
basically any shot hitting below the highest point of the bones in the photo is low. despite what reiss says, on most people the belly button is a good guide - make any contact below that and it's prob a low blow

I don't get why the ischium has big holes in it.
Is that where the balls are made by the ball factory?

somebody ask tony weeks bout what's a low blow! guess he puts?the borderline right UNDER the dick! surely has a quite different interpretation than old jack reiss.
usyk's lucky tony lost his marbles in the rolly farce, would they have hired him, usyk would've been waived off without even a count.
did andre ward comment on the issue?
