15 Rounds Lightweight Bout

Mancini would overwhelm the southpaw Watts by cutting off the ring and working on the body. He would also nail Watts' head with good punches to take a decision. What do you guys think and who do you got?

I lean toward Mancini in a very hard fought bout. Ray's superior upper-body strength, punch output, KO power, and aggression make the difference. It definitely goes the distance.

Still, it's a tough call. Watt was better than people realize. He was a seasoned, savvy defensive boxer who made the most of his southpaw advantage. The Scot was durable and could physically pressure foes when necessary.

But I'm guessing Boom Boom outworks Watt in a close fight.

Jim Watt you mean? He beats Mancini on points. It's a bad match for Mancini style-wise.

Watt Could Definitely Win, even versus the Best version of Mancini.

He'd Have to Keep things Very Fundamental though.

Counterpunching and Excessive Jabbing.

Watt Did have Deceptively Quick Hands.

It's not like Mancini is going to go Pernell Whittaker or Pretty Boy Floyd on em, so yeah, A Very Winnable bout for Watt.

The only way Watt likely Loses is if Mancini were to be a good trash talker and managed to get into Watt's head, pre-bout, and Watt decided to go for All out Ko Mode.
Mancini was Too Nice though, so that wouldn't happen.
Mancini was Very Throwback Oldschool, as was Jim Watt, even though Jim liked to Headbutt when things got a bit too hairy in there.

Given that Mancini was clearly the stronger, more powerful fighter, do you really think Watt could successfully fend him off by jabbing and counterpunching?

Watt was rather flat-footed. He had savvy footwork, true, but wasn't especially mobile. For that reason I don't think he could jab and run, like a mini-Ali. Watt would be forced to remain at medium to close distance for most of the fight.

Jim's jabbing, defensive maneuvering, and counterpunching would have to be exceptionally good to win. That's because Mancini would always have him within punching range.

I'm not saying Watt couldn't win. But I am saying it would be damned tough.

Fair Play to you're personal assessment.

I'd take Mancini by decision-too strong and aggressive.

Mancini by UD. If the fight wasn't in Scotland, and it was before 1984 version of the Boom.
