Boxing … How Much??
Boxing … How Much??
I have always thought to get a decent seat at the boxing you have to pay a lot of money.
I have been very lucky the big shows I have been to I have worked on … but I really do admire the amount of money people will go to, to watch their favorite boxers .
Whats the most you have shelled to watch a fight?
The most I shelled out was a trip to Vegas to watch Danny Williams fight Vitali Klitschko. Rhino paid $200 for tickets we didnt need because we blagged our way to the press room and then to ringside. We sat one row behind Don King.

Remind me - why was DK at the fight? Who was he promoting?
Re: Boxing … How Much??
300 for Calzaghe - Lacey.
Hatton - Tszyu was 125 i think.
Dont go to many shows these days last one was Okile vs CBS 60 quid, as family live in dorset. better fights in the stands that night, Boxxer bright idea to have Southampton and Bournemouth fans in the same stand, lol
If i ever won the EuroMillions i would go to Vegas/New York fights regally

Re: Boxing … How Much??
I've paid £75 for ticket at Wembley arena for the Joyce rematch. Sat row s top tier so pretty near the rear. I generally don't pay more that £100, but saying that I generally pay for who's coming with if if that my son, Mrs or grandson so can't afford to be paying much more.
I'd rather be on tier 1 than floor seated so if paying for myself I would go upto maybe £150-175 for a ticket if I was really keen on the main event.
I paid £75 for Fury v Parker and luckily the arena was half empty so did get seated at bottom of tier 1.
Again I paid around 80 quid for AJ v Washington that seat was right at the back. We were sat on the last row of top tier. Checkily we snook into a corporate box above tier 1 and the people who had it were happy enough we were there providing we bought a couple of beers from their private bar.
Years ago Eubank v Wharton for example I didn't pay much over £50 for a really decent seat at G-Mex and prior to that had bloody good views and seats where ever I have been for less than 90 quid.
I have a very good IPTV service at 50 quid a year so happy enough with a front row seat in front for my 60 inch TV.

Bargain really, must have been electric when they both won those fights as they were perceived as such underdogs. I remember watching both those fights with mates after the pub in houses and we were going nuts! Being there must have been something else.

Re: Boxing … How Much??
depends if the gold digger approves

yes good times with mates. my first fight was Calzaghe - Mitchell that was manic.Nightmare Roy wrote: ↑06 Sep 2023, 10:52Bargain really, must have been electric when they both won those fights as they were perceived as such underdogs. Re: Boxing … How Much??
Most I’ve paid is £200. I used to happily pay £150-£200 and get v.good seats but I can’t justify the prices now for the same seats.
What used to be £150 feels like £350 now and that’s in the last 7-8 years. I know we’ve had high inflation but it’s not that bad!

I remember being thrilled to bits because myself and rhino interviewed him for Eastside Boxing.

Another question for you all …
Has anyone ever vip seats with a free bar?
Were they worth it?

95% of Journalists were going for Lacy and the odds were short on Hatton due to Brits backing him, in reality he was a big under dog.JamesPhilips wrote: ↑06 Sep 2023, 11:32Both were more or less evens at the bookiesNightmare Roy wrote: ↑06 Sep 2023, 10:52Bargain really, must have been electric when they both won those fights as they were perceived as such underdogs. 95% are you sure? Can you back that up with proof? Obviously plenty of punters thought Calzaghe and Hatton would win…….Nightmare Roy wrote: ↑06 Sep 2023, 12:5395% of Journalists were going for Lacy and the odds were short on Hatton due to Brits backing him, in reality he was a big under dog.JamesPhilips wrote: ↑06 Sep 2023, 11:32Both were more or less evens at the bookiesNightmare Roy wrote: ↑06 Sep 2023, 10:52

Yes - a few times. Well worth it. I did once for a prizefighter in Wolverhampton (cost I think £100/£120). Spoke to Kell Brook for a while in the bar and Darren Barker too. Also did it for Bellew v Cleverly 2. I think the tickets were £150 or £175. Didn’t spend long in the free bar but really enjoyed meeting the fighters that were ringside and speaking to the guys following their fights.

Talks about it in the buildup section, doesn't give figures but I think something like 27 out of 30 journalists back Lacy, maybe someone else has it.
Re: Boxing … How Much??
Great thread.
I’m directly involved with a name you’d all know and only got freebies off them when I was a youngin. Grown man now can by for my own, but…
Gyms in Liverpool get a big handful of tickets on the side of the arena the TV can see, usually the day of or day before. I imagine that’s the same everywhere in UK when it’s not selling.
When I see a big show in my town I wait for the freebies. Ive just paid about £60 for the next Wood Warri fight, but that’s like a lads weekend really. Most I’ve ever paid was Canelo in vegas and I can’t even remember but it was a few hundred dollars. Never mind flights + hotel.
I love boxing and I’ll travel and fork out for a good fight on a cool location, I’d be a while listing all the places I’ve been. It has to be a good one and times are getting harder, tho.
In summary, I’ll go any night in Liverpool for free but if I’m paying to travel it best be good.

Re: Boxing … How Much??
I've paid £200 a couple of times for ringside at the Hydro when Ricky Burns was boxing. Don't think I've ever paid any higher than that.
A bit different, but I paid about £180 for my ticket for the wrestling at Wembley the other and that was sitting in the 200 level of the stadium.

Re: Boxing … How Much??
Mayweather ones were bottom tier- good seats and it was at the MGM Grand, which is a quality arena. Also it was peak Mayweather so I don't think it was too bad
GGG/Canelo were from a scalper, and were top teir

Re: Boxing … How Much??
The average price of tickets sold at the box office was over $1,400 (a gate near $23.5m and 16,700 tickets sold). Crazy what some people will pay.
More sports/events are going that way it seems.
