What happened to light heavyweight Jim Moran, star amateur from yesteryear?

Post by wrighty »

Jim Moran from Redditch win the commonwealth games light heavy title in 86 and the ABA light heavy title in the same year. In 87 it looks like he won the heavyweight ABA title, against Henry Akinwade. He had some nice skills and looked like he could have a tear up if needed. I don't think he turned pro, I'm sure there would have been interest. Anyone know what happened to him?

There was a thread a while ago, from what I read he just didn’t want to turn pro and became a bricklayer. He passed away in 2021 aged just 57

He attended a few pro shows in the Midlands but stayed loyal to the vest. Promoter Ron Gray wanted him.
