Moderator: I think you need to fix this asap

Post by SendoTakeshi97 »

So I seem to be logged in as and able to post as SendoTakeshi97.

Just to be clear my username is actually Finkel.

This would suggest there might be a security flaw you need to look into.

Just to be clear this is quite a serious issue, as I have access to this user's private email, and could change his password if I wanted.

Please can you fix this asap.

I am going to log out now and see if I can log in with the correct account.

I am back on the correct account. But as I said above, this needs to be resolved as it is potentially a serious breach of security and user information.

Yeah, please don't do that

There isn't much that could be lost in my account, but it's still strange.
I don't know why it's my account of all things, but thanks for making this post and for not doing strange stuff with it :TU:

Haha, yeah no worries.

Actually, looking again at my own account it was probably just your email I had access to through the edit page. I would have needed your original password to actual start changing your log in etc., Though I didn't want to test if I could actually change any of that.

Even so, it should probably be fixed.

Edit: it might have been your username that I logged in under because I do vaguely remember searching on a topic and clicking on your name (I live in Japan, so SendoTakeshi likely caught my attention) though that is just a guess, heck I might have been searching your name, problem is I'm usually just browsing the boards after a couple of beers.

There are still people who are able to post under my name.
I don't think there is any malicious intend, they maybe not even realise it.
It's still messed up though.

Is there nothing you guy can do to fix that?

EDIT: For example viewtopic.php?p=5941535#p5941498

None of the texts in there are from me.

The forum software is 20 years old and very flaky, it's hard work just keeping it going :verysad:

I actually just logged in again as you.

This time I was just hitting log-in repeatedly. Though when I went to a new page, it switched back over to me. Likewise, I have no idea why it's always your account though

I have also just been logged in as SendoTakeshi97 when pressing login repeatedly. This isn’t my account! I’m actually Simon Lock.

Are there any plans to update the software any time soon? Eventually you are going to run out of sticking plaster and the thing might not even be salvageable.

I remember a post from John a while ago, but can't seem to find it now.

Sure he said something about not replacing the servers due to cost and letting it slowly die.

I may be wrong, though. It would be a shame. Some of us have been here 20 odd years.

Isn't boxrec an official record-keeper for boxing?
It's kinda crazy to think that it doesn't get supported enough to sustain it's forum.
