has channel 4 looked into the fact that IJL was absolutely dreadful and yet kept being given big assignments? ffs they treated him great, if it was merit based he wouldve gotten nowhere near where he did
i havent seen enough of jeff hines, but ffs ijl what a tool, all that dreadful judging and weffing for years, costing fighters all their hard work and hurting their earnings, and he turns into a f@cking wimpy cry baby victim.
the bbbc has been awful in holding crap officiating to account, and ijl is a prime example of how a shitty official can go on robbing fighters far too long. he's such a b!tch to be crying now

I’d agree with you Mag except the fact he’s not been the only one that’s been fairly consistently crap.

i think he was the worst, certainly holds the honour of being the wef for the worst british ring stoppage ive ever seen (enzo-ovil 1). a deer in headlights as a wef, and a card filled out before the bell as a judge.
f@cked things up time and time again, yet kept getting big assignments. he benefited massively from injustice and a lack of accountability over his career. the bbbc were great to him.
i'd rather have them sack arguably their worst official, long overdue, than none of the corrupt and incompetant ones at all. jeff hines, i have no idea, maybe he's right about his own case, but ijl is an utter fanny who was gifted an officiating career most can only dream of
IJL going on as long as he did with no accountability is the real prime example of how the bbbc suck. an awful official being sacked isnt.

Yeah - I’d agree that IJL was the worst. He was a real incompetent ref who seemed to panic (perfect example was the one you gave) and he turned in some awful scorecards too.
I never had an issue with Hinds. I think his grievance was that he wasn’t made star class when, you could argue, he was as good or better than some of the other star class refs.

im sure jeff was a lot better than ijl for one, basically he'd just have to be better than arguably the worst official in the world

Ian was a good solid pro years ago. And when he first became a ref,was pretty good. But like in all walks of life, too much time spent in any one position can make you a bit stale. Add all the bull shit politics as well and yiu can become a little bit institutionalised. Just my opinion. For what it is worth Terry O'Connor was shocking imo

Jeff’s case definitely needs looking into, no good rationale that I could ever see for the Board not upgrading him, especially given the absolutely appalling state of existing officials under their jurisdiction (IJL certainly included in that, but by no means the only one).

Yeah - that was my take from watching it.
It was interesting that a member of the board said he his reffing style was like he was walking along the beach in the Bahamas. I did always think he had a very relaxed nature in the ring. I’m not sure there’s anything wrong with that though if he’s making the right decisions.

IJL was bad for sure, and was getting progessively poorer, but worse than O'Conner? - I don't think so.

Yawn.
Ian John Lewis is one of the worst referees of all time. His performance in the Vitali vs Briggs fight was so bad HE should be accused of racism.

How is boxing "multicultural"? It's just two men punching each other in the head. Multiracial, sure. But multicultural? How?

i dunno, IJL maybe the worst Ive ever seen. just dreadful as a dear in headlights ref and judge. delivered utter crap continually without being held to account.. it's laughably ironic that he's playing the victim here when the bbbc gifted him for years
ovil-enzo one of the most ridiculous things ive seen in boxing, sums up his ability as an official

Jeff Hinds was good. I think he might have been the best ref there so he has a case.
IJL was absolutely horrendous to the point where you would strongly suspect some type of corruption as it's hard to believe someone can be that inept but in IJLs case I can believe in the ineptitude. Just absolutely terrible at his job and needed to be taken off. So there is absolutely no case at all with IJL and unfortunately Jeff Hinds is getting shafted once again, this time by IJL being a crybaby and associating with this entire thing.
Hinds has a case, IJL doesn't and should f*ck off.
I can't get more honest in my opinion.

Yet another case of the BBBC bringing grief upon themselves because of their inability to get things done, IJL along with Big Tel should've been binned years ago, maybe if they'd reprimanded IJL years ago he wouldn't think it was a hatchet job on him after Taylor/Catterall
It's a bit like the Benn situation where my distain for the BBBC trumps justice, if these allegations are enough to make Robert Smith step down along with some of they incompetents then it's a price I'd be happy with, not a fan of anyone being wrongly labelled racists but I have more sympathy for the careers that have continuesly been ruined by the BBBCs band of merry men for years

Ovil v Enzo want even his worst calamity. There was a 3 round prizefighter fight that he scored 30-29 in favour of a guy that had been dropped. The losers coach literally chased him through the arena.
Just when I couldn't think any lower of IJL he goes crying racism to channel 4, what a pig.

The woman boxer is hopeless. Lots of white boxers have lost their licenses too, boxers much better than her. The real issue is how she got a license in the first place.
Jeff Hinds was an ok but average ref who had found his level and wasn't an A Star referee.
Refs like Billy Aird, who was white, got binned.
Ken Curtis is black, like Hinds, ok but average, he had found his level too and stayed where he was.
IJS was a good ref and moved through the levels and reffed a lot of good fights. He was moved forward way before McDonnell and Green who are both white.
Unfortunately in the end he had too many bad nights, especially with scoring, and got downgraded.
The piece is of a very poor standard and it shows no understanding or knowledge of boxing.
