Press Release

Harlem Eubank will carry on his family’s famous fighting legacy in Brighton when he brings prime time boxing back to the city on November 10, live and free-to-air on Channel 5.

The unbeaten super lightweight contender headlines in his hometown at The Brighton Centre against tough German Timo Schwarzkopf, on what promises to be an emotionally charged night in front of his own fans.

Eubank will be the first of his fighting family to box in the city since Chris Eubank Senior defended his world title in the iconic seaside resort in the early 1990s.

Harlem is ready to build Brighton into a fortress as he begins an assault on international titles and knows hometown support is vital when he faces Schwarzkopf – a fighter who has never been stopped.

The undercard for the Wasserman Boxing event, delivered in association with Ladbrokes, Numan and Infinitum Entertainment, will be announced in due course.

Harlem Eubank said: “The hairs on the back of my neck stand up whenever I think about November 10, and fighting in Brighton, in front of my hometown fans.

“You could say that this has been my destiny, that it was meant to be and was written in the stars, but this isn’t going to be a one-off, I want to make this the first of many big nights of boxing in my city.

“I know the great people of Brighton will come out in force to support me and the fight with Schwarzkopf, and the event, will be one to savour.”

Timo Schwarzkopf said: “I fully understand how everyone expects this fight to go. They will be buying tickets and watching the fight on television, expecting to see Harlem win in spectacular fashion.

“But, sorry, that is not going to happen. I am far too experienced, tough and skillful for Eubank and I will ruin his homecoming.”

Kalle Sauerland, Head of Global Boxing at Wasserman Boxing, said: “November 10 promises to be a very special night as Harlem becomes the latest member of his famous fighting family to headline in Brighton.

“Thirty years after Chris Eubank Senior defended his world title, the Eubank name headlines a major night of boxing in the city, once again.

“It will be emotional; it will be thrilling, and it is sure to capture the imagination of everyone associated with Brighton.”

I live in Brighton so will go to this.

Not really a fight Town, but a gentle, endearing love/bemusement for the Eubanks persists.

I think the last one was Scott Welch v James Oyebola in 1995 and hardly a show let alone a TV one since

We are all too busy down here being liberal and voting for the Green Party to enjoy boxing!

£58 plus fees is the cheapest seat, plus only half the arena open but at those prices I won't bother

£282 plus fees for front row ringside , plenty available too. Can't see this doing big sales

Bar the YouTubers or massive fights tickets are a struggle in the U.K.

Boxxer couldn’t sell out York Hall for the recent show, Matchroom only did 2.5-3k for the Opetaia show last week and still have around 1,000 left for Wood/Warrington which you’d have expected to sell out. Joyce/Zhang 2 couldn’t sell out and they’re really struggling on tickets for Buatsi and Azeez.

All promoters would be better off having plenty of £40 tickets available and trying to get an atmosphere.

I'd have paid £20/£30 for a ticket if it wasn't a bad seat, but double that plus seven quid a pint etc makes it not worth it especially as I guess the undercard won't be all that

Tommy Welch is on the card, has he signed with Wasserman? Or is he a free agent?

Schwarzkopf is a step up IMO and I think Eubank is reaching his ceiling. I can see this one being competitive.

As a Brighton resident I have caved and bought tickets, despite the pricing. We don't get much pro boxing here.

Actually got them a bit cheaper by buying through one of the boxers on the undercard.

A few little local prospects developing. Tommy Welch and Harvey Dykes, who I think won the ABA's at super heavy in 22, both on the bill.

Think I’ll enjoy the boxing.

Not sure about the party I have to go to afterwards with my partner’s friends.

She hangs out with a load of Brighton new age hippies. They always get us to do things like burn herbs so we can communicate with our ancestors. Probably be a round of kumbaya as well.

Harlem won't sell because his style is very boring and he doesn't take risks to KO opponents. Bringing in Eubank Sr. is an attempt to help sales and profile but Harlem himself doesn't come across charismatic or engaging. He needs to spruce up his personality outside the ring.
