Chagaev would stop Mesi. It'd be reasonably competitive, but Chagaev takes over more and more as it goes, and Mesi doesn't last the 12.

nah the brutal 30 second ko of davarryl williamson was his best win, far better than jirov. D only had 1 loss at that point and in the next few years after gave wlad and bryd tough fights and had wins over derrick jefferson and an old but still useful mccall

he even stopped mike mollo, who would go on to upset the legendary kevin mcbride

jirov did f all at heavy and mesi battered him around until the last few rounds. amazing that jirov didnt stop him even with a brain bleed.

I dont remember watching mesi much if at all.

he was a fun fighter. a bit like a watered down tommy morrison. was a good amateur too

Mesi had power and some skills. His victory over Monte Barrett was something to take seriously, an impressive measure of Baby Joe's skill set. Barrett was no pushover, after all.

But I still pick Chagaev. My thinking is, stylistically they're alike and they had similar physical traits. To me, this means Mesi would fight Chagaev's fight, featuring lots of close quarters combat. IMO Ruslan simply did that better than Mesi.

Maybe I'm wrong, but as I said before, my money's on Chagaev by points.
