Firat Arslan is 53 years old now and just extended his current win streak to 8 in a row and captured a WBA gold world title at the same time (against Edin Puhalo, who's barely top 50). Since losing to Yoan Pablo Hernandez is 2014, he's gone 21-1-1. Boxrec currently ranks him #15, which is pretty much not at all a drop from where he was ranked in his 30's. Arslan has also just broken Bernard Hopkins's record of oldest fighter to win a world title by 4 years. However, this is also apparently his final fight, so I guess he won't be one-upping this achievement in the future.

At that age, tragedy can happen any time in the ring.

Yeah, you could fall out of the ring.

I saw that on the results page. I haven't kept up with Arslan, but I knew he'd be getting on in years, so I clicked his record to check... Then had to Google it because I thought BoxRec must have it wrong.
