Who is the Lineal World Heavyweight Champ: Fury or Usyk?

Fury was lineal Heavyweight champion
He retired last year and vacated the Ring Heavyweight Belt on August 12 2022
When Fury retired Usyk and Joshua were ranked #1 and #2.
https://web.archive.org/web/20220817...eightclass=272
They fought and Usyk won on August 20 2022. Usyk also won the Ring Belt Fury vacated.
On October 20 two months later Fury came out of retirement to fight Chisora.
So Fury's "retirement" lasted a little over 2 months.
So when Fury and Usyk fight the true World Heavyweight Champion will be crowned.

Clearly Fury. His "retirement" was a joke.

Fury is a lineal liar and a drug cheat who 'retires' at opportune moments eg before the 29th October 2016 rematch in Manchester with Wladimir Klitschko (he'd already called off the earlier July 9th date citing an ankle injury).
If he ever actually fights and beats Usyk, then we can perhaps reassess.
If Ngannou somehow gets lucky tomorrow night, it will be time for another boxing history rewrite.

Fury will retire off a win (maybe if he takes the rematch) which means we will have to find another lineal champ. Usyk would probably fight once or twice more. Realistically, the lineal line will likely be broken once again in a couple of years.

Fury because he hasn't been beaten.
He will remain lineal champion until then or if he really (officially) retires.

100% correct. Lewis never lost it in the ring, so the title is his.

- OK, objectively Flubber is a lineal liar and drug cheat who don't fancy his chances anymore starting at the Wlad rematch where he objectively starts the first of his epic ducks of AJ and then Usyk.
Seferi and Pianeta were both gimmees where where he looked off balance and with poor mechanics. Deyonce was the lowhanging fruit to match Flubber, hence the tight first fight.
Now, I could go on, but that's like beating a dead horse instead of hauling him to the glue factory. No bigger fan than I of him coming up, and no worse critic than I of the first retirement farce he started so he could serve his suspension for drug use living the good life...

To me officially retiring means. You don't come back.

Then again, do we have to wait until someone dies to really ensure they don't "come back"?
If the boxer says he's retired take his belts away, even imaginary ones like that one.

No, you create another Champion in the meantime like they did. But when the old Champion comes back. He's still the Champion, and the guy that picked up the belts while he was away and him need to fight.
Of course Boxing politics being what it is, it don't always play out that way.
I don't get too fussed about it.
The idea of this sport first and foremost is to make money for the people involved. If you understand that, you understand their actions sometimes.

That's it, in a nutshell.
The fans need to understand that, the boxers even moreso.
I suspect it took Gennady Golovkin quite a few years before that painful truth finally sank in.
Lomachenko too.
Thankfully GGG was one of the few who able to cash in and fill his boots before finally hanging up the gloves.

Fury is the champion.
No debate whatsoever
Baubles and babies can argue among themselves.
I don't like it....but it's a fact
Fury is unbeaten

Usyk is unbeaten too and, unlike Fury, never retired.
